    • I think that sometimes things are just staring us in the face. Best of the Irish teahupoo, best of UK Marie’s rock. The potential big improver, GW is going chasing. Can’t see past these two.
wint be backing any has beens, wannabes and frenchies.

      • IMO Teahupoo not good enough to win a poor Stayers last year and Marie's Rock didn't get home when looking like cruising up at Aintree. Won't be backing those two GV. Next......

I'll be amazed if there is not at least one or two or more entries from left field this season.
Mullins has several just on his own.
It's a no go market for me at this stage as the prices do not reflect the true level of competition the horses at the current head of the market might face.
The NRNB market will be of much more interest to me.

So you wouldn’t factor in Teahupoo’s age and the propensity to improve? That seems counter intuitive.

You're so far away from the box, you can't even see the box

Yeah, I thought this one was a little too far

              • Vauban - could easily give him the winter off and bring him back for a crack at this, especially if Gaelic has done well over fences, and the race looks winnable and Mullins has little else.

Sir Gerhard - Willie already stated he might end up here if no improvement over fences.

Gaelic Warrior - could go back hurdling if a blip or two over fences or a slight setback.

Impaire et Passe - likely to run and win the hattons grace, if beaten at xmas and dublin by State Man or another over 2 miles and Constitution Hill going well, then the stayers would be an option

State Man - Reverse the above

Sandor Clegane - similar to Gaelic Warrior
                Ahoy Senor - ditto
                Absolute Notions - ditto
                Hermes Allen - ditto
                Stay Away Fay - ditto
                Affordale Fury - ditto
                Three Card Brag -ditto
                Flooring Porter -ditto
                Iroko - ditto
                Corbetts Cross - ditto
                Fact to File - ditto
                Nick Rockett - ditto
Gala Marceau - If Willie is mob handed in the Mares he may send something he thinks will stay well to here instead
The Nice Guy - If back in training early enough would be most likely race.

Not beyond imagination that circumstances mean some of the above end up in the stayers.
And most of the list would mean the current heads of the market would slip at least a point or two, and a few in there that would go off favourite.

Obviously it's only likely one or two end up competing in the stayers but there's also many others not listed that can also throw their hand in. They are just off the top of my head and all would have some interest and be considered as potential winners of a weak stayers, especially against the favourite who looks ground dependent and when he got his ground against a pensioner he still failed.

Having said that, the current fav could improve again and he could dominate some of the prep races in Ireland if Mullins doesn't compete too much.

Both Sir Gerhard and Gaelic Warrior entered over fences at Naas on Sunday. Could both be back in the Stayers by Sunday night. Not going to lie that is what I am hoping for. Pocket talking.

                  • So.. Q.. in the “quixall crosset index of improbability”, where would you rate teahupoo and Marie’s rock chances? 10 being no hope and 1 being f..cking no hope.

Not me. Was the form horse, fav to win , was his 12th run, had his conditions to suit, weak race, so was probably his best (and only?) chance to win. That's just my thoughts of course and they may be bollocks.

                        • Teahupoo - 3
                          Maries Rock - 4

Teahupoo should have won last year, conditions suited. Dont think he'll improve from what we saw. Comes up good ground in March and he'll be a 5/10

Maries Rock, I have a feeling this mare is a little waywood in and around March. Never really looked into Mares in terms of their cycles and whether this is just a myth. But But like Apples Jade when she was a banker for the mares, Maries ran terrible in March. Again, I not saying this was due to some biological changes, its just that she's never been able to get to or run a race at the Fez, and it wouldnt suprise me if it happened again

I think the stayers will become one of the easier races in 4-5 weeks time, we'll see something from the novices or a 6-7 handicapper come through, and it would be fairly obvious given how crap the previous stayers are

                            Defo a fun year :-)
