Agree. All guts. Great jumper. Probably would have preferred a lead. He'll be cut by half after that.

      Crazy thoughts that,worth another watch.

Best horse won by a fair way aswell.
Gio had much more interference throughout the whole race, IMO.

Don't think there is much between them at all.

      • Loved that. From both. Both will have a great chance come March. Two very nice types there. 3m on G/S and I'm not sure who I'd side with.

        • Fair result. I only have Gio backed but SAF is relentless in a finish. Both jumped really well so nothing between them on that front. Best horse won on the day but maybe better ground could see a closer race in March.

            Don't think so personally

Run it in a bigger field and stronger pace I think giovinco could reverse it

Think he'd be better buried among horses to get him to settle, he pulled the entire way round

Once giovinco didn't pull away there was only one winner as Stay Away Fay is very strong at the end of his races

            Two very smart novices imo

Just a shame the changing man came down as would've been nice to see how far clear theyd have pulled

That was pretty much what I was expecting to happen

Giovinco has lost little in defeat, he made 1 mistake but jumped very well other than that.

He'd had all the time in the world to go past if good enough, was a head down at the 2nd last receiving 3lbs, SAF be even better being hassled for the lead/getting a lead.

              • I think stay away is a proper classic staying chaser, i was listening to it not watching, i think hes one that will keep finding and im gonna get stuck in to the BANC even with him shortening i can see him enjoying the test and pushing on next season aswell!

                • I don't think Giovinco was being slogged there, better ground and in a festival race and it could go either way. Horse and jockey would've learned a lot

                  • I think considering Giovinco virtually ran in a Bumper last time out , He's done Really Well to go with S.A.F .
But i agree with DarloTheleme ! , , Stay away just keeps finding .. .

Aye, I'm having SAF winning even easier in a bigger field and a stronger paced race. Not the other way around.

Still think he BANC price is decent enough now.

He'd be a banker if the BANC was on the new course

Either way for something to beat him in march they will need to be 2 or more lengths up jumping the last as nothing will find more up the hill than SAF

I certainly don't see the second reversing that at any time . SAF will get better and better. Was giving weight as well and didn't want to lead. Great ride though. Cobden is brilliant in front.

                          • One knew what to do off the bridle, the other had never been asked so just wandered around a bit, difference between being in races and being in walkovers, hope the education isn't lost on Giovinco,SAF a decent winner today.

                            • Very good race. Both nice horses and as others have said, Giovinco could reverse it at Cheltenham, on better ground etc but SAF could also improve further. They set a good standard for this and SAF looks like a proper Gold Cup staying chaser. Giovinco needs to learn to run within himself a bit and that would help him improve at this grade.

                                yeh SAF was mustard there.
