I think I have to bite the bullet and accept I may have to do two bet's . It’s cowardly but my testosterone filled youth has long since flown.

In time I believe Giovinco will be the better horse but right now, Stay Away Fay would be the more mature of the pair, he's been in far deeper races, been asked for more in his races, faced more opposition and all of that makes him more mature, battle hardened if you like, that could be the difference today as ability wise, I think there's very little if anything in it,which means the 2/1 with the 3lbs is very tempting.

Some of the horses who never finished in the Bartlett seem to have fared better than those that did finish. Favori Du Champdou was PU in the Bartlett but hammered Sandro Clegane & Affordale Fury in the Florida Pearl, Chianti Classico who was PU in the Bartlett is 2 from 2 over fences, albeit not stepped up into a graded race yet, and as you note Dawn Rising won at Royal Ascot, but was PU in the Bartlett.
Maybe, just maybe, the Bartlett left its mark on some of them, like it has done in the past with some horses.
Hopefully it's a good battle between Stay Away Fay & Giovinco today. If I was Gionvinco's rider I'd want to be well clear of Stay Away Fay going into the final furlong, as I wouldn't want a head to head battle with SAF as I think he's a very gutsy type.Last edited by Black Dog; 8 December 2023, 01:05 PM.

Don't think there's an awful lot between them though. Stay Away Fay mostly stayed out of trouble, Giovinco got knocked about a bit from other jumpers, the unseated rider and then the loose horse.

That was a good battle between them.
Stay Away Fay just outstayed Giovinco on that ground imo. Jockey looked confident on Giovinco, both were hampered by the loose horse but don’t think it would have made too much of a difference.
Both jumped really well too, Gio slow at one down the back on second circuit other than that both were foot perfect.
Happy to have both covered, although Stay Away Fay has to be fav to uphold the form.
