Very much so. She was thought good enough to be entered this year and after her MNH win the 2 year plan was Mares then Champion Hurdle. Whether they go through with that I don't know but they may well think very strongly about it should The Hill go chasing. I'd definitely be interested at a decent price. She's absolutely top class and has made rapid improvement this season. Who knows where her ceiling is.

My choices for the first yankee would be

El Fabiolo (QM) - Very Good Winner of The Arkle and appears to be progressing, Energumene, at this stage would be the only danger, but age may be against him
Corbetts Cross (BANC) - Still improving, was running well in the AB until the mishap, will be 7 next year which 7 of the last 10 winners have been
Teahupoo (Stayers) - Certain that with a more positive ride he would have been a lot closer this year, young enough to have another crack

      and probably controversially

Galopin Des Champs - Price unlikely to change, it's probably now or never

All targets seem pretty much certain at this stage

If GDC is too short and we're looking for one at a longer price i may go for Night and Day (Mares Chase)

I'd agree that the Brown Advisory is a race worth targeting ante post. Gaelic Warrior, Stay Away Fay and Corbetts Cross are at the top of my shortlist.

I nabbed some 40/1 on Fact or File for the AB after he ran well in the bumper. That could be my first NR of the year!
Has anything been said about Fact to File going Chasing ??., I haven't read anything , but not really looking at much news either . .

There are some quotes that they may go straight over fences. It would be good to see tbh. Not good for my pocket though

Definitely one i'm interested in F.M. , I'm doing my best to not rush in too quickly this time round .
So good job i didn't steam in with an A. B bet already .
In fact , apart from a few , ( 3 ) horses , trying to ignore the nov hurdle races .

Yep, Willie said they'll give it some thought. Would go against the grain although he did do it with great success with probably the best ever Cheltenham Bumper winner Florida Pearl.

…..if there’s still any 16-1 available for Stay Away Fay (BANC) then that has to be a strong candidate for inclusion. AB winner highlighted by Nicholls as a future staying chaser ahead of the Festival.

He’d beaten Monty’s Star in his PtP. Ahead of the Festival Nicholls said he was inexperienced and would ideally have needed another run but ‘will make a lovely chaser next year’.

We talk about lack of value but that seems decent for me.

When does the final Yankee get posted? End of the month? Strikes me it is already chosen and now just being debated?

….yep, MoM reads through the thread and posts the final selections at the end of the month/beginning of next month.

Yeah will be the first or second day of the following month usually.

So what happens is I read the thread again, write down the most repeated names, then go on the individual race threads (if it’s late enough in the season for that) and see if those horses get debated again on there in the most recent ten pages of the thread), before finally going through the Yankee thread one more time. Usually takes about an hour and a half to decide per month.

I appreciate that is probably overkill but since the idea is that everyone has something on the Yankee so that eventually if it ever hits we all land it at once, I’d rather take too much care when choosing from everyone’s nominations than not enough.

I wouldn’t be too precious and snooty over the likes of Galopin Des Champs. A yankee should be all about a good payout, and finding winners. In fact, having a very solid favourite in one leg shouldn’t be totally dismissed. By all means be a bit speculative about other legs.

This time last year, Constitution Hill was 5/2. If as many do believe that GDC has the makings of a horse that could be a multiple gold cup winner, a 2/3 race unbeaten campaign will see him at what price, odds on even?

Agree With above. This far out best to pick those with guaranteed targets or those that have had races name checked .

Perhaps a win Yankee in April then?

….I always think that’s a personal choice anyway. Personally, I’d only back ‘win’ this far out regardless of prices.

Seems like most nominated selections are currently double figure price.

March one has to be definite targets and I would agree with Irish Rugby about the prices.

                                Galopin Des Champs Gold Cup
                                Stage Star Ryanair
                                El Fabiolo QMCC

                                All fit the bill?
