    El Fabiolo QMCC

    All fit the bill?
El Fabiolo possibly a bad choice in view of the Hill factor. Going to be tough this year !!

Where has Nicky Henderson suddenly found this pair of gigantic balls from? Constitution Hill rocking up to the QMCC flies in the face of everything we know about Nicky's thoughts and behaviour. The man is a nervous wreck watching his horses and shown himself to be very risk averse. Not knocking him for it either.

People betting on Constitution Hill turning up for the Champion Chase must be a layer's dream.

It would have been discussed after the Game Spirit for both Altior and Sprinter so it's not that hard to see them going for it with CH. Plus, there's not that much competition in the Champion Chase currently. I don't see too many being brave enough to lay it.

We're only in the aftermath of Cheltenham 2023, I'm sure there'll be talk of it between now and the autumn, maybe even in Nicky's stable tour. There will be racing posts to sell and unibet blogs to write. But it'll all be bollocks in the end, he'll go Arkle or Champion Hurdle if fit and well. I doubt they'll be losing sleep over Marine Nationale at this point in time, and Willie will most likely steer Impaire et Passe in whatever direction is away from Constitution Hill. The Arkle will probably be a walkover if chasing is the route taken as they'll scare everyone else off whereas, on all known form, there's nowhere else for Energumene and probably El Fabiolo to go except the champion chase.

Agreed. El Fabiolo at 4/1 is a stand-out price.

If CH looks the business over fences and goes Champion Chase I could see Willie swerving him for the Ryanair leaving Energumene as his sole representative in the CC. EF is currently fav for the Ryanair so bookies may have the same reasoning and aren't taking any chances. It's going to be fun and games.

In my view, CH is long odds against to go for the Champion Chase. That makes El Fabiolo a very good bet at 4/1. Others seem to agree:

If there's no ch in the champion chase that 4/1 will look huge, he'll be nowhere near that sort of price on the day, if all goes well beforehand.

….cut to 10/3 with 365 this morning, looks like 7/2 (Lad/Cor) is the best available now.

If guaranteed targets is what we're after for the first one then State Man in the Champion Hurdle at around 7/1 is worthy of inclusion.

Willie has reiterated he will stay over the smaller obstacles and I think most of us believe Constitution Hill will go over fences (whether that be the novice or open route?)

If Con.Hill does go over the bigger ones, then he's our most likely winner is he not?

He's decent cover for Constitution Hill at 4's without a doubt. That's the beauty of the CH dilemma, it's making others 'value' in the Champion Hurdle, Arkle and Champion Chase. All depends how each individual reads it and the risks they are prepared to take.

Can't argue with that at all. 8/1 could turn out to be a mahoosive price.

                              2 confident ones:
                              Lossiemouth - Mares
                              Stateman - C.Hurdle

                              2 speculative ones:
Night & Day - Mares Chase
Lovely big mare, chasing was name checked already - she is due out again soon any further improvements + similar comments on chasing = price collapse

                              Jonbon - Ryanair
Outpaced in arkle, likely to step up in trip. My thinking is if Shiskin is sound and is aimed at GC only 1 place for Jonbon to fall into = Ryanair

Also is there any love for banbridge in the Ryanair? Big price was super at DRF, connections toyed between the Arkle - turners this year but ran neither. obviously ground dependent which I can’t have much love for but price isn’t a rude offering

If all goes well beforehand, if he gets to through the next year’s training, if he turns up on the day next march fit and well, if CH don’t go chasing and turn up, if if if !!
Each to their own, but 4/1?
Think I will leave that and concentrate on finding ones now and in the coming weeks and months that are priced up much more to my liking .
