  • ...Soaring Glory’s win over Bravemansgame game was visually impressive.

    • personally think the Supreme looks pretty poor. The fav is a good horse but in time probably will be upped in trip. When you look down the list nothing else has really set the world alight. I can see the first two in the betfair heading to the Supreme. The Moore horse didn't have the clearest of passages today and the winner had a lovely sit on the inside all the way round. Could see the positions reversing if they both lined up in the Supreme.

I’ve done my ante post bets on this race, but will look to see how I’m looking on the day to see if I want to include any of today’s that might be running.
Thank you for the good luck message

          Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle

He's come through all his trials very well. I have to be honest, he's surprised me with how much speed he's shown. That said, you need to stay very well in the Supreme and he does stay the trip very well. It's hard to win the Supreme with just a speed horse. He's come out of his Leopardstown win in very good form and we won't be doing a whole lot with him between now and March 16. He's where I want him to be.

              • Mullins stable tour mentions that Ganapathi is likely to come here and Blue Lord he is leaning towards sending here too. I backed Blue Lord for this after his run over 2m4 at Naas thinking he looked like he needed a shorter trip. I think in the race against Appreciate It he was given a lot to do and with more prominent tactics in the Supreme I, although I'm probably in an extremely small minority, think Blue Lord definitely has the speed and ability to stay enough to reverse that form in this race.

I definitely agree with the ride Blue Lord was given at the DRF, he was given too much to do, if they try to lay up 3rd or 4th he'd be a lot closer. I felt that was a reoccurring theme throughout the whole DRF, I'd imagine the orders to the second and third strings in each race were get out of the way of the good thing and work your way into the race late. Don't think he wanted any of his horses racing each other early.

                  • Wonder if that means he thinks GdM has a stronger chance in the Ballymore than AI has in the Supreme?

I wouldn't read it like that personally. I just think he likes winning the Supreme, and god forbid should anything happen to AI during or before the race he has options that he knows are not that far behind him in Blue Lord. Ganapathi is owned by the same owners as Gaillard Du Mesnil, so they'd want one option in each I'd imagine, or at least WPM would want to split them up.

The other thing, and I know it's probably a little bit of a weak reason, but I'm not sure how much competition WPM wants for Gaillard Du Mesnil, as him winning the Ballymore nets the Stable Staff bonus of ?50k that is put up for winning the 2m 6f race at the DRF.

Could see Ganapathi in a handicap if his mark is fair.

Yeah, he'd certainly be of interest if he did end up in one

                            Worth thinking about....

                            ......

No, not a first string, so going to the race he thinks suits him the most?

Aidan O'Brien sometimes likes to only fire 1 dart, Willie, no real evidence of that... even when he has a solid fav, he runs others...

For example, in Douvan's Supreme, he had Shaneshill, Tell Us More and Alvisio Ville.
Vautour's he also ran Valseur Lido and Wicklow Brave
Min, even though he didn't win, was also a strong fav and he also ran Bellshill and Petit Mouchoir.

So all in all, I'd say it has no impact at all on how strongly he fancies Appreciate It or Gailliard Du Mensil in their respective races.

                            • Atholl Street an interesting entry in Dovecote on Saturday and Cobden jocked up. He was entered to run at Kempton at Christmas and I put up some comments back then - see post 176.

This is his first entry since then. He’s leaving things very late and perhaps one to think about for Aintree but an impressive win could tempt connections given the race still doesn’t look very deep.

By the same sire as Appreciate It and the ill fated Our Conor. 25/1 NRNB might be of interest if only to cover decent positions.

                              • Obviously Nichols is a good trainer, but personally I would stay away from any thing he sends to Cheltenham Unless it is shit hot he just doesn’t seem to send much there especially in the novice his hurdles and novices chases
