Just rewatched the Irish 2m chase and not too disheartened with Chacun's performance. Having travelled and jumped fine for most of the race perhaps he tired in last half mile being his first run of season which is perhaps why he struggled to quicken and put the race to bed. Expect improvement next time out and at the end of the day I think most of us backers will be on him at big prices so not the end of the world. And well highlighted on here about the price of A Plus Tard available at a certain bookmakers has given me another potential live dart at a big price.

For me he’s been massively overhyped for what he’s actually achieved. If you’d never seen Min run before Aintree last year, everyone would be saying he’s a certainty for this. Cheltenham is where it’s at, the festivals after that forget as they mean absolutely nothing in relation to form.

It is much harder to battle though if there's not much in the tank as opposed to there being plenty of fuel left. My point is that I'm hoping he will improve for the run. Trying to be optimistic after a couple of rough days antepost haha

Yes he tied up at the finish but the question I’d be asking is why was APT as a 2m 4f horse so close to him ?? If he’d have been sent on to win his race and got caught, I could understand the loss being put down to fitness. I’m just not sure he’s the machine everyone was hoping for.

He didn’t think the trip would suit but the ground was the equaliser. Said he’ll have a champion chase entry but will be ground dependent

QUOTES: He had some great runs last year as a novice and I was happy with his first run back this season. We knew he'd come on plenty for it but the favourite was so impressive last year it looked like he'd be difficult to beat over this trip. I wasn't convinced this was our trip but the softened ground helped and he jumped great. We'll probably enter him now in the Champion Chase but in my head he was always going for the Ryanair. I believe he's better going left-handed and I couldn't find a race over two and a half. I think ground would come into play as regards plans (for Cheltenham). He'll probably come back for the 2m race [Dublin Chase] here in February - Henry de Bromhead, trainer of A PLUS TARD
