  • Barring injury Sharjah looks a very solid bet, based on what both of you said.
Just don't like the horse personally.

    • mullins stable tour and no saldier update , and i bloody wish they retire Faugheen and not send him chasing ,he walked through to many hurdles for me and chasing might destroy him.

      • Eldorado Allen

“He will be ready to run in December at some point. He has only had a couple of runs over hurdles, so I’d imagine we would chuck him in a handicap and see where we are with him. This year might be a case of finding our feet with him.”

Not sure that the Champion Hurdle will be on the cards if they start him off that late. I’ll stand by my preseason shortlisting for the Arkle but post date it for next season

...on the ATR stable tour, Tizzard said they would start Eldorado Allen off in a handicap in the 2nd half of November.

The above was from 23rd October. Looks like the plan is the same but timing slightly different. There is the valuable handicap hurdle at Ascot in December so that could be the target instead of the Greatwood.

            • Eldorado Allen could be a weapon in a handicap! I’ll suggest they’ll start in a valuable one for purely financial reasons. They thought this lad was significantly better than EdN last year. If he’d had a full season I think his mark would be 150 odd by now.

              • Not a CH project though ... he'd need to win whatever handicap he runs on to be worthy of a spot so if you like Eldorado Allen, we'll make our money before March

                • Christ above will I be glad as ever if Labaik proves me completely wrong and actually runs again.

You’ve missed my point I think, Kev. They’re running him in a handicap, not necessarily because he’s not being aimed at the CH, but because he could be very well in and pick up a big pot for owners who missed out on him last year. After that one race his mark could be blown and he’ll have to go into open company. Assuming he stays fit, i’d be surprised if he ends up anywhere but the Champion Hurdle. With a full season last year I think he goes off 2nd it 3rd fab in the Supreme and I would not have been surprised to see him finish top 3. If that had happened, which is all perfectly possible, you’d have no issue seeming him as a CH prospect.

They lost most of a season with the horse last year; I cannot see owner and trainer willing to waste another year.

All that said, he’s with Tizzard who doesn’t seem able to do 2milers of any discipline!

                    • I don't think I missed any of that mate, I don't disagree.

My point was he's going to be a better bet in a handicap than he is at his current odds ante post for the CH.

Much much much much better doing it yourself and rolling winnings on.

                      • Fair enough.

But if you think he’ll smash up a handicap in Nov/Dec. He’ll halve in price for the CH, surely? So why not get on now?

                        • Have had a long overdue free bet on Labaik with laddies for this at 50/1. Unfortunately no boost available with freebies. Will get him onside e/w with cash before or during the Morgianna if he’s in the humor to stretch his legs. Cheltenham doesn’t worry me with the persuading leather at the start.

Because he'll be more than even money to win the handicap, so halving in price isn't better than backing him to win then having a bet on him with some winnings

                            • Or do both. That was my point! Oh well, just poor communication on my part. Regardless, I am very interested in how he fares this year.

                              • Or keep your powder dry & if he unexpectedly looks like smashing up a handicap mid race get busy!

He won’t be a priority risk runner for traders!
