    Yes most of them do

It will be clearly advertised on their pitch

however,if you are lucky enough to have a big win you might be paid in Northern Ireland sterling, you might not be able to use these notes in England, might be worth asking the bookie before placing the bet

    • Afternoon all, just wondering what people's thoughts are and if anyone has has previous experience of this. I backed Authorised Speed any race a while back but then noticed hills has made a spelling mistake and it was down as Authorised Spped.

They then changed the spelling so it is correct in the market but my open bet still shows the old spelling, am I right in thinking in the unlikely event he wins that I would still be paid out? They never had him twice in the market one spelt correct and one wrong so am I right to think it shouldn't be anything to worry about?

      Many thanks

        I think you'll be fine.

        • I had WH settle a bet incorrectly, as they settled the Moto 3 Championship based on the result of the final race of the reason rather than the Championship.

The transcript of me trying to explain that is a piece of modern art.

Took over 3 hours to get settled, so I'd perhaps try and go on the livechat and get something in writing where they acknowledge it, if you can be bothered!

          • Another for the thread... Does anyone that has been to the DRF previously know if on course bookies will take bets in GBP? I know plenty will take bets in Euros over here but it's my first trip over and in the unlikely event I have a winner, would rather it be in GBP so I don't have to worry about being bent over when changing it back.

Pretty sure some did last year although the odds are that you'll be paid out with notes from Northern Ireland.

Sean Graham most likely will, they are based in Northern Ireland but have seen them at racecourses down South. You can always ask others as well, I'm sure a few more will be happy to take your money.

Depending on how much Sterling they have to pay out in, it might mean you're paid out in Northern Irish bank notes but please be assured they are still Pounds Sterling and any UK bank will swap them for Bank of England notes for same value once you're home.

                • I was there last year and betting in pounds. Was definitely quite a few bookmakers who did, not just the Northern Irish based ones.

                  • Stupid question incoming...

RPR's are are confusing me lately. For example, Did I ask you that lost by a neck to Pour Les Filles. Pour les Filles had a jockey claiming 7 pounds. They both got an RPR of 124. Should DIAYT not get a higher RPR as he carried more weight and lost be a neck. If Pour Les Filles ran to 124 would DIAYT not have ran to about 131 RPR?

7 pound was the jockey claim, so the idea is that the jockey on any given horse would cost the horse 7 lengths through the race by not being as good a jockey. If he had the same weight with a professional jockey, he would have won by 7 lengths (in theory), whilst carrying 7 pounds less, so the RPR should be the same.

No idea if that actually makes sense, does to me

                        • The last time I was at Cheltenham I walked into the Hall of fame room near the fancy restaurants they have all the past winners hanging from the ceiling. They also have the Timeform charts of highest rated hurdles/chasers of all time. Now it's been touched on in the past about how far ahead could Arkle/Flying bolt actually of been from a proper 180 horse. So my question is if Constuiton Hill was around in the 60s what sort of rating do you think he would be given in relation to now, roughly the same or higher than present? Not questioning their consistency just absolutely incredible to imagine a horse 20+lbs superior to the likes of a peak Sprinter/Kauto.

I think Timeform has said several times that if they started again they wouldn't have given Arkle or Flyingbolt the marks they did, it's an argument that's been done to death across every racing forum but there's no conceivable way a horse in the 21st century, with all of the technical and training advancements that come with time, could be so far behind a horse 40+ years earlier.
As for Constitution Hill he is an incredibly exciting horse, what he achieves in his career is anyones guess but whether that's as a 170 hurdler or 210 rated hurdler is guesswork.
But he'll never be as good as Istabraq....

                            • I really should be up to speed on this but I’m not usually one for Yankees or Lucky 15’s etc. but placed a few this season, how does an ante post Yankee work out if one leg doesn’t run or make it to the festival, do the remaining doubles/trebles still stand?

Yea. Exactly as you've described. Four of the eleven legs are still live...
