9/10 - 4 or more runs in the season

    7/10 - Irish bred

    1/10 - French Bred

    2/10 - winning Favs

Kateson being aimed at a race at doncaster which will be his 4th race and 47 days before the AB!
That French stat is going to have to blow for some of us that are on Rockpoint, Easy Game, Dinons and others I presume.

    • 4 or more runs in the season knocks of Carefully selected despite him having 6 runs to date aswell

      • As noted on the Ballymore thread, the Ballymore Leamington Novices' Hurdle was a new course record, which only aids to my list of positives for Rockpoint. He set the fractions, and would have always been outpaced over shorter than 3m and on a flat track once those with real gears kicked for home, yet he was only beat by 9 3/4 lengths, giving 5lb's.

As noted earlier in the thread, being a French bred is particularly damning for the race but even with the French breeding stat it should be noted again that he is a half brother to Minella Rocco, Annie Power & most notably in recent times, Santini, who looks to want every yard of 3m and ran in this race to finish 3rd with plenty more stats against him than Rockpoint does.

Given the betting/race is still wide open, and the likely lack of runs for many currently in the betting, 25/1 still seems ridiculous for a horse with C&D form, albeit may not be the strongest of races, but there is improvement to come from him over the trip as well.

Right now I am looking down the betting, struggling to find a horse with form in the book that fits the trends I personally stick to, that I can oppose Rockpoint with.

Really hope we see Carefully Selected soon as he would be one of interest, though as noted by HF, he would not meet the 4 runs in a season trend, although that is not one of my 'priority' stats.

I’m on him for any race at some massive prices (40/1 and 33/1 boosted I believe) after he easily won at Cheltenham months ago.

I’m not sure he’s good enough though.

          • Dickie Diver running at Chepstow tomorrow with Barry up. Don’t think the 25s for this will last long with a good performance. I’m on at 33s and 25s any race plus have some tasty looking multiples with Santini & OKC, so hoping for the best.

            • Battle hardened horses usually win the Albert Bartlett; I like his profile but what will he get, 2 runs max before Cheltenham?

                  Qoutes from Mark Howard book

Declan Phelan p2p expert - Tall bay gelding with a physical presence ,dare I say it but a dash of racing exuberance associated with the likes of Carvills Hill and Denman in his performance. As a mininum he will be a major player in the staying hurdle division this year.

Michael Goff (former trainer)This horse is probably a bit special the way in how he won. Rumour has it he going to Mr Hendersons , but whereever he goes he is going to be a very good horse.

Will wait for him to go chasing next season then.

Backed it a while ago Scoob hence the tasty multiples. Backed on what I heard in that he was thought to be Hendos best staying novice. Take on board the tough intro and the lack of match practice before the festival but just happy to see him out. Plenty of cash around for him tomorrow also which gives some hope. Still think 25s with cash out is not a bad risk ahead of the run.

                        • FWIW Dickie D is flying at home, expect him to win tomorrow and shorten. I still like Valtor for this race if we knew he was running.

To put that in context, even hearing that news i havent backed as dont like lightly raced horses for this, for the reasons that others have mentioned.

Billymag, is there a chance Valtor runs in the cotswold and then the gold cup ?
