No chance, they never run their big guns against each other. Colin Tizzard on the other hand.......

Always one of their A Team with a steady back up.

They will HAVE to run more than one Ricci horse in this race? Limini as second string?

      • He'd love the publicity.

Colin Tizzard said he wouldn't like to be in a nursing home in 20 years time wondering if Thistlecrack would have won a Gold cup. Ricci will be answering the Annie / Faugheen question for the rest of his life unless he finds out in March - it surely has to be tempting him.

I they'd NEED to know they had the Mares G1 sewn up to do it, but it isn't the craziest theory ever. ON everything we know it wouldn't happen, but WHAT a statement it would be.... on the Saturday before? Announced on ITV racing? haha

VVM / Limini would NEED to be near certainties for them to take the risk?

I think your right that Ricci might be keen to see it like the rest of us but Mullins will see it as using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Yes I think Limini second string for the Mares race behind Annie.

            • Hey guys,

Been a long time reader, finally decided to get involved, love the differing opinions, which is what this game is all about.

In relation to the Mares race I just can't see how Limini would have the beating of Apple's Jade, VVM obviously was defeated by her on seasonal debut, and it all points towards Annie Power going for this race now, before being retired. Limini may well run in the race, as second string like some have said on here, as she will be the future for RR & WM, but at this current moment I can't have her ahead of Apple's Jade or Annie Power.

              Just my thoughts of course.

              • Welcome
I agree in principal that Apples Jade should have the beating of Limini on what we've 'seen' this year.

I have said more than once though that whoever Ruby rides for Mullins in the race will win. I think it is unlikely to be Limini, but if it was, I'd have to take it on faith that she was 'nailed on' because I still can't fatham any situation that they don't pick up this grade 1 on the first day, especially with the added spice of AJ moving from his care.

                • I agree entirely with your thoughts, of course Ruby's decision will be paramount on the day, however if Annie Power runs can you see him not riding her regardless?

I wouldn't waste £1 at 100,000/1 that he over looked Annie in a mares race this season.

                    • Limini as short as 7s now.. absolute madness. I think had she been showing superstar qualities at home, we'd have seen her shorten in the market before now. As it is, it takes Mullin's comments that this is her target to shorten her up... Really i take it as many of you have, that Limini will be second string in the race. If Faugheen and Annie are fit it has to be CH and Mares. If Annie/FAughenn aren't fit then surely VVM steps in.. i cant be having Limini

                      • I tend to agree with Rowebot and the theory holds up with what you say too ...

If Mullins is being bullish about limini now, he can claim that was "the plan" ... so when Annie ultimately switches to this race a couple of days before they can say she wasn't showing anything at home and the plan was to run limini.

Now if Limini was really the first choice and sparking at home, PP wouldn't have been 14s until Mullins mentioned it. She's been available at 10s or bigger for ages (I actually backed her age ago wroth a theory about it being natural progression for the winner of the mares novice race, with Annie in CH and Faugheen WH and Vvm over a fence. Looks like I got that wrong but I liked the theory at the time

                        • I agree with you on the theory, the way it should be

                          • Anything on Kotkikova since her defeat at Christmas. Looked like she needed the run because the trip can't have found her out based on her french form... but with Jezki about to come out and likely shorten in the Stayers market, this looks an obvious race? Although Jer's Girl is in here? Backed her and Limini on the same day many months ago

                            • The only quote I can find on her is:

The owner's racing manager Frank Berry said: " She ran well to a point. It was her first run after a long time so hopefully she will improve for it.It's too early to say where she'll go next."
I'm sure I remember hearing after that race though that the drop back down to 2m4 would be a plus and this would be the most likely race.
