Cheltenham Race Conditions

I’m no fan of the Boodles, the conditions almost encourage deception but I can’t see them losing a hurdle race and introducing another chase.
Where it sits on the OC order I think is irrelevant as if bookies are pricing the race it has to sit somewhere and I can’t imagine bookies will have known all along what race is being ditched and it hasn’t reached the public.
With all the turmoil in the world I wouldn’t be shocked if they pushed it back a year...

That'll never happen TPK. That worst thing about the five day festival is that it'll be five days with six races each.

It's just another way of ripping off the racegoer. As a paying customer, I think every race card should be a minimum of seven races but it never seems to get mentioned by those who want five days.

Anyone who wants five days has clearly never been all four days! Hopefully it never materialises. Id like to see the 2 1/2 novices handicap chase go

Useful Link here to the BHA Racing Administration Support pages.

Loads of information in here, and its also here under the Report and Guides tab (Stats and Reports) that you can find the Full List of British Pattern Races, for Flat and Jumping Terms and Conditions of Entry, and dates for entries and decs.

The Jumps Patterns has Cheltenham Festival conditions in it, but of course we are waiting for the launch of the 2020/21 Jumps Pattern to confirm this seasons information (that may be delayed a while yet until they know about prize money, spectator attendance etc)

2019/20 does have useful info on Cheltenham conditions of entry, I used it a lot last year.

Also has the current fixture list.

and all the PTP Fixtures for the coming season.

May be worth saving as a favourite/bookmark for some of us.

Its somewhere that the BHA will load a lot of information in one place, which saves me having to go and find things like the Flat or Jumping pattern races for new seasons in online google searches, which was more tricky than I thought it would be (well hidden).

Suggestion - and could be a total non starter so forgive me, but would a thread for the handicaps for the previous few years marks to get into the races be worth a go?

OTL,

I did it for all the handicaps last year, with 10 years of details of past winning ratings.

I can bring them through to individual 2021 threads when the handicaps start to be quoted in antepost markets. :encouragement:

The intention is to have individual race threads with #1 post containing race conditions, critical dates etc.
Until now discussion has been limited to a few championship race threads and the novice group threads but there will be threads for each race eventually

From my experience the first year of being on here, the handicap races that were covered in other threads had some absolute gems in there from everyone..although he fell collum of fire would of been a huge return for me and many others no doubt! Such a good read even if you join the discussion after 30 odd pages, get yourself to page 1 and read all posts!

Column of Fire and Western Warhorse are on the banned list for this forum, any mention of said beasts will be met with a ban...

I second that! :applause:

The mention of those two give me the heebie-jeebies!:dejection:

I consider me taking about Column Of Fire the equivalent of scoring a goal then getting booked for taking my shirt off. Then sent off for arguing with the ref about how stupid it is to get booked for celebrating.

Back in the late 90’s/early2000’s my team, Leicester City really had the sign over Villa, and took great pleasure in beating them a lot.

My group went to Villa Park on the train, one Saturday afternoon, to watch the undefeated streak to our Midlands rivals continue, when the game turned on a sending off, and we went on to lose the game.

It was all down to our forward Les Ferdinand.

First he got booked for arguing vociferously about the award of a throw-in to Villa and not Leicester.

Then in the same minute, he got a second booking for arguing about being booked the first time.
He just wouldn’t let it rest :dejection:

The Foxes fans were not happy, what a kn*bhead. :highly_amused:

People still want this 'sticky'?

I can set up the handicaps with a 1st Post conditions, past winners, handicap ratings, in the next week if we are ready for that.

Perfect SW.
Not easy this early in the piece but when prices appear can you make a note to add these to the first post too, I think it’ll be a very useful tool to look back on (for all races) and see what price the winners were at first/early quote...

That would make life a lot easier . So apart from the M Pipe and the Kim Muir there is no ceiling on the top rating for any other HCP, just a maximum weight. Does that mean Paisley Park could run in Pertempts off 11-12 ?
