2026 Novice Hurdlers

Form lines always suggested Old Park Star was the better of the two imo and that he was their Supreme horse.

Haven't and won't get involved. If Mydaddypaddy was a bad price after 2 runs, OPS is a shocker. Everyone was saying the same about Act Of Innocence

using the word always in this context makes no sense.
You mean once the 2nd and third from his maiden won their next races in the last fortnight ?
Hence when the money came for him.
Did you back him at that point ?

The horse that old park star beat finished 28 lengths 5th behind idaho sun and my daddy paddy

his maiden has worked out ok though.
but you're right, the cheltenham race he won has not been franked as yet

….Harry Fry re Idaho Sun;

I have been delighted with his season to date, and he has progressed with each run. Winning Grade 1s is what it is all about and he couldn’t have done any more than do what he has done and win well. We are very much hoping to run in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March and we have just to decide whether to run between now and then or not. It’s a nice decision to have to make and his only defeat was in the Champion bumper where he didn’t come down the hill and became unbalanced and lost his position. Just under hands and heels he flew up the hill when meeting the rising ground and he wasn’t beaten far at all. I can’t wait to take him back there in March all being well.

It was a decent performance the other day but, given there's a hurdle about two thirds of the way down the hill, you wouldn't want him to become unbalanced in the Supreme.

Act of Innocence form lines with Sober Glory, albeit Bumper, told me he wasn't good enough.

Yep , 2nd and 3rd from his maiden win have both won well since. Only one horse has ran again from his most recent win and got beat at a big price in Mydaddypaddy race when unfancied.

Have only backed him in doubles at 12/1 and 8/1 with Sir Gino, Impose Toi and Lulamba but will back him as singles once NRNB are available as I feel he's still a decent price.

The form of his last win is yet to really be tested, but its hard to not say he looked good coming up that hill, was Altior-esque to my eye.
I'd say you have some great bets there Lobos, shame I haven't 😆

Still plenty of time to get him on board Envoi. Agree, he did also remind me of Altior as well who also burst onto the scene in the same fashion. He could have won by further if he wanted. Loads left. Great that he did it at Cheltenham as well which is always a bonus. Could be Henderson's turn again in March . I do think Saint Baco could be the one for Mullins though so not all plain sailing.

I feel the same, it might not be the strongest form on paper right now but it had a fair bit of the wow factor for me, hurdled so well, barely had to touch him, powered away and at Cheltenham too.

One of those where he could be owt really which makes it exciting. Looked like he improved a bundle from his first run, If he improves like that again for his next run then again for the festival he could be a beast, up the OPS.

probably best to do the WTAF when he runs at Haydock.

Hard to see him going off super short though I'd say, and I'd say the same with El Cairos with him only going to a maiden prior to the Supreme.

You'd still have it fav that willie will saddle the horse at the top of the market.

But could be a year where it's 3/1 the field

I'd want to see El Cairos declared again first as that was a nasty fall. Have we heard that he was A OK after the tumble ?

Was anything said or hinted about Ballyfad's next possible destination or likely festival target? Tried to do some digging but cant seem to find anything.
