2026 Novice Hurdlers

Act of Innocence might get pulled from Saturday IMO.
His breeding does not suggest a slog over that trip is ideal at all. Might be a daft pace also if Heads Case does his usual.
He might win because of a class edge but theirs likely a few more dour stayers in that line up.
We'll see.

What it does show if he runs, is how much trainers talk of trips has to be taken with a pinch, as it's blatantly obvious that this horse is being shoe horned into going up in trip sooner because of another horse in the yard,

There is every chance they piss the horse off and give him a slog of a race, after getting him beat the last day conceding stupid amounts of weight.

A good ground 2m 5f that we might get in March would be a different kettle of fish really.

….i’m hoping Heads Up benefits from having Danny Mullins in the saddle, backed him yesterday and also thought 100-1 TWAF was ok, although he’s 50-1 Turn with 365 (as low as 25-1 Lads).

Agree completely. I have same reservations. He looks very vulnerable and I reckon we'll see a big drift on the day should he run. Pretty sure OPS would have put the juvenile away easily giving the same weight away.

You've changed

Ground doesn't matter, does it?

Also, from what I can see, on breeding, soft ground would be no issue.

Sire and Grandsire both won G1's on soft!

You could well be right but I guess seeing the juvenile out again might make you think a bit differently.
He could turn out to be very good.

BTW hear Pauling has a good one for the Don tomorrow that Ben J is gutted about missing the ride for. AB bound.
Taken the 50s already. Like to see it finish in the top 4 tomorrow.

its not the ground or acting on the ground
It’s trip and ground bringing stamina more into play
And Likely pace and opposition being suited more to them
If the race was 2 mile he’d be odds on IMO

I think he will be fine, personally.

Hopefully some influence from the grandsire (dams side) who won two G1's on heavy over 1m4f.

No Doctor Du Mesnil @ Naas on Sunday.

Arcadian Emperor (no festival entries) & Did I Ask You That the two declared for Willie.

….80-1 TWAF with Hills.

Yep, his performance in the opener could tell us a fair bit. I don't expect him to be involved in the finish though personally

Who's Ben riding ?

I'd say these owners are wanting both of their horses to run at the festival, just not against each other, it does give the yard another chance of a winner so it does the trainer no harm to be compliant in such situations.

I understand why they're doing it the way they are.
But on another day they'll say they are doing whats best for the horse.
Or running in the race where they think he has the best chance of winning.

Like I said, I wouldn't care on spring ground myself, whether a class horse goes 2 or 2 and a half.

But Saturdays race looks more like a bartlett trial when it's ran on soft ground like expected.
He'd be better going to that 2m 2f race in the next couple of weeks IMO

Yeah, to me it looks like a situation that suits both trainer and owner .
Were they different owners could well be same race.

I can see the point of not running tomorrow, absolutely, especially if another option is there for the horse.

…looks like he has a few at Cheltenham (Taurus Bay for Pauling).
Right. So that's the one to be on then if he's missing a cert at Donny to ride him.

I think you've misunderstood.

The post ends by saying 'Like to see it finish in the top 4 tomorrow.'

Does that sound like a cert?
