Agree with both of those two. I'd be tempted to throw Brandy Love in a slightly related Yankee with ADV for the mares chase, the open mares divisions were awful last season so I wouldn't be at all shocked to see the two best novice mares towards the top of the pile next season.

What's the chances of Brandy Love going for the Mares Chase given her PTP background and being a year older than a few other Mullins candidates like ADV?

I'd say now brandy love is a G1 winner chasing is probably unlikely as her foals will be worth plenty and makes no sense to risk the bigger obstacles

I'd not be confident she would get the 2m4 but Saxon likes her and I'd bow to his knowledge. ADV may not even go chasing but she has the scope for it and there isn't an obvious WPM candidate.

I'm against Elimay for the Mares Chase for next year. Think she ran below par but still won however with age and newcomers she could be dethroned. Only problem is we're not sure which hurdlers are going chasing just yet.

There's just nothing coming along that I can see will be better than her. I wouldn't be keen on a novice unless it gets lots of experience, and there's nothing I can see that's intended to be out early. The alternatives of Magic Daze (trip issue) and Rivier D'etel (jumps badly right-handed) really don't appeal at all, and there's nothing else around that's remotely good enough. I think she's as solid as any of Willie's experienced horses. 6/1 is a gift of an antepost price for such a solid looking favourite.

Do you not feel there's a danger she'll get retired if she doesn't show early spark ?
She's coming up nine, and I know it's a fairly cynical view but I don't see a massive incentive in keeping a mare going if she's not championship class and the best she can get to is matching last season's achievements and she loses a year breeding.
Do we think she can improve on last year and win something she hasn't already won ?
I'm not sure, in fact I'd be fairly sure a younger unexposed horse will improve past her.
Worth also remembering that she's a French bred and will be entering her 7th season racing, so for me two big flags are waving, there aren't many French breds that hold their form into their 7th year and Mares can/do stop very quickly.
That said what will win the race I have no idea, the only name I can throw out there is Gin on Lime but she was hardly impressive on her two runs after Cheltenham (November), perhaps something from last seasons Mares Novice Hurdle, the Hendo horse that was runner up maybe ?

I'm with Ista in that I don't see Elimay winning again. She only just got up this year and won't be improving as a 9 year-old . For me she's no value at any price. I agree that there will be one or two Novices that will improve past her. I've got one that will be going chasing next season and am pretty certain will end up in the Mares Chase for a top, top stable but haven't bet her yet so will reveal all when I have !

Brandy Loves - Mares Hurdle
Gailard Du Mesnil -NHC
Facile Vega- ?
The only problem is the Mullins bingo split of Vega being so uncertain this far out. One alternative would be using the TWAR market on sky which can be used in multis now which is handy, this multi is priced up at 1345.63/1

That performance she put up reminded me of Quevega’s last Mares Hurdle, scrambled home squeezing out every last drop she had in her.
The more I think about her the more I’d expect her retired by the time the tapes go up…

Same age too.
Only difference re Epatante possibly is that she was so impressive when stepped up at Aintree they may think she can win one or two top mid/staying trip races.

All that said the opportunity to foal another horse probably disappears after about July so you’d think any mare coming back to work in the Summer would have to have obviously regressed pretty quickly to be able to make that decision or you continue with Plan A and race the horse…
