The cold sweats came back again when I saw the Perth card, this was the day last year when I had Ansi Fideles down as horse that would win multiple Gold Cups and Grand Nationals, followed the thing over a cliff thereafter and much the poorer for it !

            Runs in 2.50

Cloud Creeper is a seven year old gelding, purchased for the syndicate privately by Mick Fitzgerald in june 2012 for 60,000. Trainer

            2014/2015 Season -

By the autumn of 2014 Cloud Creeper had run eleven times for the Club, in a bumper and ten hurdle races, and had finished second five times!

He ran again over hurdles at Chepstow in October and ran quite poorly, looking as if he needed the race. At Doncaster, over hurdles again, he was second again, this time to a horse who was getting 15lbs from him.

Since Doncaster, Cloud Creeper has begun his chasing career in three 2m4f handicaps at Leicester in December, February and March. Mick has always believed that this horse would come into his own over steeplechase fences and he was right.

After being beaten by a neck in his first chase, he has gone on to win the next two. In his third chase, Richard Johnson didn’t ask him to go and win the race until jumping the last. He surged ahead to win by 8 lengths from a horse who was getting 8lbs from him. The Racing Post describes him as ‘a progressive sort.’

On 15th April 2015 Cloud Creeper went to Cheltenham to contest a Class 2 Novices chase over 2m5f. There were only four runners but these included the smart seven year old, Un Ace, trained by Kim Bailey and recent winner of a £40,000 handicap chase at Ascot.

Un Ace was rated 7lbs higher than Cloud Creeper and started 10/11 favourite with Cloud Creeper second favourite at 9/4. Despite the small field, the pace was strong. Cloud Creeper jumped well except for a bad mistake four out and travelled strongly. He held the favourite up the hill to win by three quarters of a length. His handicap was increased to 150 for this.

            Pedigree -

Cloud Creeper is by Cloudings out of a Presenting mare named First of April. Cloudings only ran five times. He won three of his races, including the Group 1 Prix Lupin over 11 furlongs at Longchamp but failed to get the trip in the 1997 Derby and retired to stud thereafter. At stud he has been more successful with jumpers than flat horses, most notably with Cloudy Lane, who has won eleven races under National Hunt rules, including the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock and the Foxhunters’ at the Grand National Meeting. Cloudy Too and Many Clouds have also won decent races recently and Jonjo O’Neill’s seven year old, Cloudy Copper looks very promising.

Can anyone explain why Channel 4 are only showing 6 races tomorrow ?
More specifically the show goes on air at 1.30 and they are not (from the guides I've seen) showing the 3yo hurdle off at 1.40.
This is a cracking race and one that usually throws up some serious juveniles, there are a couple of decent flat recruits (rated 80+) and some good quality NH breds, it's staggering that with cameras and crew at the course they can't show this race, even more so with the first TV race at Newmarket due off at 2.00 so 15 mins after the juveniles will pass the post.....

Who knows ? 7 runners and bookie agenda ? Backed the McNeill horse in that race for an interest they do well with juveniles as does King.

I've taken a flyer on Pinkie Brown of Nick Williams yard.

Looking forward to seeing Anomily run in 4.00, could be a very decent horse this.

Over at Navan I expect Ballyoisin to win 1.50 and I really like Nina's mount in the bumper, not given a hard time when the door got closed on the horses effort on debut, 7s seems to have gone but 6s is of each way interest.

                  Good luck all
