Do you think she'll run here? At best she'll have had 2 chase starts against some much more experienced rivals.

Would you be happy with her having 1 run in novice company over fences then contesting a festival open graded race?

It'll be a worry if she can't get a run in over fences pretty soon. Even if she does I can see her switching back to the Mares Hurdle if Benie and Honey don't go that route. Definitely a NRNB horse for those not already on.

        • My view on Benie in this Race.

I think shes defo worth a bet now at the price offered.

If she runs, shes going to be a very very short price (unbackable)

But let's ask another question ...... let's just say she does lineup.
Can anyone actually see her beaten ?

For me I think she'll win by a very large margin. So my way of looking at it is I'm backing her just to line up as I believe the win would be unquestionable.

I've took my chances and had a sizable bet (for me anyway)

It wouldn't be ideal if the likes of Benie and Shattered Love arrive there in form with their chasing experience which is why I think she may still run in the Mares Hurdle.

Its not ideal and if she's only going to have one run pre-Cheltenham I'd prefer it to be in deeper company than not, don't know how many of them will be available mind.

Agree that if she runs I can't see her getting beat and yes she'd go off a shade odds on. But that's the issue......if she runs.

                • Another point re DDC is that she does like a bit of dig so maybe the guarantee of that on the Tuesday over potentially quicker drying ground on the Friday may be significant. The same could be said of Benie as well I suppose ??

I’d forgive her seeing that was over 2 miles, middle distance or further seems the better for her.

Somewhere on this thread I said she’d be a 1/2 shot on the day if she did go for this so the 14/1 was at least a bet worth placing even if it’s a free bet situation for some (I know Kev was one of those). It’s now 7 months down the line and we still don’t know either way but she’s half the price and it still looks a value play. If she turns up or becomes much more likely to turn up (let’s say for arguments sake she gets an entry over fences this week), she’s half in price of right now yet again. If she turns up, I would imagine she’d be a lot of people’s banker of the week.

She has to be worth the plunge for those not already on her. Surely?

                      • I'm as big a fan of Mullins mares as there is.

But it's worth remembering BDD's form.
It's a bit patchy, the 1 win at Cheltenham was a right battle with a midnight tour, then she got beat by Honeysuckle.
Her last chase win was against shit, and she wasn't that impressive that day, rated only 142 at the time.

She's capable of 160+ performances, but not everytime.

It's probably why some are so strong on Honeysuckle having her beat.
She's not really ran a bad race yet.
Maybe one or two that you can be critical of but even then she's been beating the boys whilst doing so.

Also worth mentioning 2019 where she proved she can run well at Cheltenham having not raced in a season. Relevant for this given the same might happen.

                            • Increasingly thinking that BDD will only run in the Mares Hurdle if Concertista doesn’t.
Not sure either owner will thank Willie for a loss when each has other options (Concertista the Churdle and BDD the Mares Chase).
He might let them run together but I can’t have it. i suspect the yard recognise that whilst Benie is capable of a big performance it’s Concertista that has been increasingly consistent in her last 3 outings, with a Festival win and two admirable warm ups so far. There is no guarantee Benie would beat Concertista yet alone the Honey’d one so on that basis I expect them to hold their cards close to their chests but ultimately ‘twist’ if both horses are fit and firing. If that’s Concertista to the Churdle or Benie to the Mares Chase then we can only guess but I suspect that’s more in Concertista’s hands/hooves...

I do think if you are not already on and are thinking of plunging with real cash then you should wait for NRNB with her now. That would be the sensible play in view of not hearing anything from connections about her or her wellbeing. You'd still get odds against about her wouldn't you? Admittedly it wouldn't last long with this lot on here !
