Anyone for the Conflated today and Galvin Cross Country double
Actually going to go for a small double on Knight Salute at Wincanton and Vauban for the Champion Hurdle. KS not really favoured by the race conditions with his G1 penalty but he's outsider of the field so it's well factored into his price imo. Good ground and small field no problem though. And an opportunity to get Vauban onside, just in case last year's juveniles were a really good bunch.84.5/1 at the moment.

Would surely have beaten those if he'd not almost fallen over coming out the stalls

Just one of those things, hopefully not a sign of things to come for the rest of the day

I know espoir dallen won the champion hurdle but that was a bit of a fluke with apples jade/laurina bombing, buveur dair falling and bringing down sharjah

They are brought as juveniles to run in specific juvenile races. The owners/trainers can hold them back a season and run them as novice hurdlers though. They aren't forced to go down the juvenile route.
Best chance for some horses are as juveniles, so can understand why they don't hold them back, but I don't think they should then be given a concession because of this. They still have the rest of their careers to become successful, Tiger Roll probably the most obvious example.

Tiger Roll, Defi, Frodon, Apples Jade... they came through in the end, but so many have just fallen off the cliff, and tend to done after their first season in open company

Personally, thats what I would do, I have zero interest in this division and would rather trainers and owners hold them back another year

Knight Salute just had a very quick turnaround from his previous race, so this could have been an issue for him, or they could be planning on getting his mark down.
They have handicap marks so maybe that is all they are out of juvenile company. Knight Salute only really done well against the British lot, he was hammered in the key juvenile race of the season, the Irish dominated and Pied Piper, who likely was primed for Cheltenham rather than Aintree, had to be demoted for Knight Salute to win the race. I just don't think he's that level tbh.

Not really a roll up but thought this was the best place to highlight BEECHWOOD running in the 1:50 Naas.
looks well overpriced at 28/1, trainer has had a lot of newcomers run well on debut this season and this one cost 140k, has an Irish oaks entry and is by Le Havre who’s progeny enjoy a dig in the ground and it’s heavy going at Naas today.
it doesn’t look the strongest of maidens depth wise so if this one is anyway above average I’d say she had a good chance of hitting the frame
edit has now drifted to 50/1Last edited by riccirich; 6 November 2022, 12:46 PM.
