Personally yes but most owners seem to prefer splitting them especially in this case as al boum photo has won it twice, imagine if melon beat al boum photo costing him his 3rd gold cup

I think that would haunt the Donnellys for the rest of time haha

      • Getting Melon to finally win a race at the festival would be a bigger achievement than 3 Gold cups

Melon is very Cheltenham consistent though. It's a massive massive plus for this race specifically. The Ryanair is littered with previous festival contenders who have failed to win but have a decent cheltenham record. I'll dig up the numbers I posted last year but I think its 5+ horses been to 2 or 3+ festivals and not won before winning the Ryanair. It's a well trodden path

The way he travels and jumps tells me shorter trips might be his thing this season. We'll see how he copes with that line of thinking and he could end up in the Ryanair in the spring.

A prominent racer who was up their with the best of the novices last year, depends how strong you value last years RSA really. He's got to improve to get to Mins level but being so lightly raced, prominent style & owners knack of festival winners of late you can see why plenty are/would be talking him up.

His exuberant racing style, him fading ln the closing stages of a hot RSA and Mullins namedropping the Ryanair as his likely target might have something to do with it.

                    • For me it’s the scope of improvement that is likely to come. He’s very unexposed in my opinion, only ran a handful of times and has been graded placed both times at the festival.

Reckon is this is the route they go down a front running ride will take a lot to beat him.

Exuberant doesn't do it for me. Was the RSA a hot race and a drop in trip from the the stable ?. He was beaten by Easy game over 2ml 5f a year ago

Go with what you feel. By discounting the current joint fav Allaho whoever you fancy clearly becomes a better bet in your eyes. That's the beauty of AP betting.

BTW I don't fancy Easy Game at all for the Ryanair. I just question the price for Allaho

He was fourth in the Champion Hurdle, but he'll resume his chasing career now. I think two miles or two and a half is fine for him and he could return in the Clonmel Oil Chase on Thursday.

                              • It would be interesting what Willie said with his older chasers last season. And how this panned out.

                                The way I see it.
If they're all fit and well and earn their ticket.
He'll have around 6-8 horses for the Ryanair & Gold Cup.
And one or two of these (maybe 3 or 4) will be 50/50, - ie. could feasibly run in both races

I'd imagine he'd always sway toward the big one in that case.
Depending on how each race is shaping with regards quality of opposition of course.

In short - I doubt they'd all end up in the Ryanair -
