Lostintranslation probably the pick of likely runners now looks to have sorted his jumping out. I'd love to see Vinndication here but vibes seem to be for RSA if he comes to Cheltenham.

An Irish challenger or two will undoubtedly will pop up once they see how weak the race looks. I'll be keeping my powder dry until the Dublin Racing Festival.
I agree with this. From an Irish perspective it looks like the Flogas will determine the focus for this race. I keep hearing that there a few horses still to run who have been waiting for softer ground. The problem now is that there is an absolute dearth of suitable Beginners chases in Ireland.

The complete list of potential Beginners chases is as follows*:

      19-Jan Navan 3 miles
      24-Jan Gowran 2 miles
      26-Jan Fairyhouse 2m 6f
      13-Feb Fairyhouse 2m 5f (Mares)
      16-Feb Gowran 2m 4f
      23-Feb Fairyhouse 2m 2f
      3-Mar Leopardstown 2m 5f

      * There are some other races restricted to horses with Hurdles ratings below 116 - those horses won't be going here

Not many options there! It's entirely possible some horses may have their Novice status preserved and be left until next year.

This is a bit of a left field pick for this race. Im not in the least bit certain it'll come to Cheltenham, but if it does it could be special. It runs in the Cheveley Park colours.
I was very taken with the last performance at Naas over 2.3m. Jumped superbly, and beat a decent field, including Duc Des Genievres comfortably. The Gowran Park run was decent too getting chinned on the line. Gundigger, Burren Life, Burgas in behind.
He's entered up at Punchestown in a Grade 3 on Sunday.

You might get a juicy price if you add him to the exchanges, as he's not quoted anywhere

          • Backed Hardline for this. Might get taken off his feet in the Arkle but 65/1 was over. He's not flashy but he's honest and a very efficient jumper really like him.

I think you are right to have him for this over the Arkle. I like the VDR form lines as you know, and despite zero movement on VDR I have backed accordingly, however I may also get involved in Hardline should VDR not turn up.

              • VDR likes to get on with it and isn't the best jumper. Can't see him winning either race.

He can see out 2m 4f, trust me

                  • He's keen enough over 2m and his jumping is ropy. Would set it up nicely for Hardline will make ground at every fence, loves jumping fences.

Would be fun watching VDR v Knocknanuss in an Arkle

If VDR ran in the Arkle, and CE lined up too then I'd say VDR was in there to give CE a pace to aim at, as you say, him and Knocknanuss would spoil each other ultimately.

                      • VDR stays further no problem but he would need to settle better to win this. He's been on the go for quite a while now as well.

Yeah I agree about settling. Not so worried about how long he has been on the go, got a little break now, that's if he takes up his Irish Arkle entry, if not then straight to the festival, provided he actually turns up, anyway.

Apart from LTO where he was hassled in front, I wouldn't say his jumping is ropy at all. Very low attacking style.

                            • Discussing Hardline and Voix Du Reve is like watching people fight over a bounty and a snickers in the leftover celebrations tubs.

Move on lads, they're both below grade 1 winning class this season
