The Welsh Grand National is one of the big races of the Christmas Racing Festival season and is usually run on the 27th or 28th of December at Chepstow racecourse in Wales.
Winners include subsequent Cheltenham Gold Cup winners – Synchronised and Native River and two Aintree Grand National winners Silver Birch and Bindaree. The 2019 Welsh National winner Potters Corner didn’t get a chance to run at Aintree but did win the virtual Grand National in 2020. A favourite memory in this race is the vintage Paul Carberry ride on Moonbeg Dude in 2012.
