With the retirements of AP McCoy, Ruby Walsh and Barry Geraghty, Davy Russell will be hoping to finish the 2021 Cheltenham Festival as the most successful jockey currently riding.
Russell had managed at least one win at every Cheltenham Festival since his breakthrough in 2006 until missing out in 2019. He bounced back in 2020 with three wins and now has 25 wins.
Davy Russell had a incredible 2014 Cheltenham Festival with three wins including the feature on Gold Cup Friday.
During the 2011/12 season Davy Russell made it into the Top 20 winning most Cheltenham Festival jockeys since 1945 with victory on the Willie Mullin’s trained Sir Des Champs in the Jewson Novices Chase. He has continued to climb the rankings with repeated Festival success and has now joined Pat Taaffe at joint 4th on the all time list.
