Earlier in the sesaon Nicky Henderson had outlined plans for the Seven Barrows team in the excellent Horses in Training 2012-13.
Here is the run down on some of his high profile and already established chasers.
Sprinter Sacre : “I would be pretty sure he won’t be going any further than two miles and the likely plan will be the conventional route of the Tingle Creek, Victor Chandler Chase all being well and fingers crossed the Champion Chase”
Bobs Worth : ” The Hennessy appeals to me as a good launch pad, as it has been in the past for previous RSA winners ( Trabalogon) and maybe we will start there before making any further decisions.”
Finian’s Rainbow : “At the moment we haven’t decided where to begin but the King George could easily be on the agenda. He has come in looking stronger than ever and it will be fascinating to see how far he is going to stay.”
Riverside Theatre : “ I would think the King George, in which he was second to Long Run 18 months ago, would be the likely target as it looks like 3 miles is required and it is possible that flatter tracks suit him best.”
Long Run : “ As we write, no firm decision has been made as to where we start and It won’t be an easy decision …he looks fantastic and I am more than hopeful that he can regain his crown, as he is only 7 rising 8.”
Master of the Hall : “I don’t think Cheltenham is his favourite place ….what he really likes is small fields and when everything goes the right way he is a very talented horse.”
Henderson also revealed that he could be triple handed in the 2013 Aintree Grand National.
Burton Port : “The ( Grand National) must be on the shortlist for this sesaon and despite his rating and size, he is still only 8 and therefore time is still on his side”.
Shakalakaboomboom : ” (The Grand National) fences undoubtedly bring out the best in him……and will undoubtedly be the target again. Amazingly he is still a novice over hurdles.”
Roberto Goldback : “He is a very interesting new inmate even at the age of 10. …Simon Munir has bough him primarily to have a crack at the Grand National….He seems a lovely big horse with certainly the scope for Aintree and one would say he has an ideal profile and rating for the race “.
