The Long Walk Hurdle run at Ascot just before Christmas is a Grade 1 hurdle over three miles.
It is one of the strongest pointers to the following years Stayers Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Derring Rose (1980-81), Baracouda (2001-02), My Way De Solzen (2005-6), Big Bucks on 3 occasions ( 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12), Thistlecrack (2015-16) and Paisley Park (2018-19) have all completed the double.
The 2020 renewal saw a second meeting this season of Paisley Park and Thyme Hill.
