    The going given is scandalous. It's much worse than what they are reporting.

      …invariably what you get, we get.

      Rain and wind has certainly strengthened in the last hour. Very unpleasant and I’m just about to venture out for a haircut, which is a bit unnecessary for a bald bloke

        That's the fear when Clerks are trying to keep everyone on side. On ITV on Saturday the Clerk had the temerity to say it could even be good to soft, a comment I found incredulous, and typical media, which she was allowed to mention, unchallenged. Of course a couple of windy drying days would help but you'd have to think Thursday is already doomed for it to be very testing. Might be different come 4pm on Saturday though. Can we really see no more rain after today's downpour, which itself sounds pretty significant.

          I'm working about 10 miles away from Aintree. It's currently bouncing down and has been for a couple of hours. Looking at the sky, there is plenty more left yet too

            Just to add to that post. I've just walked across the grass at work. I'm a 15 stone human and I am sinking in. I know its a race track with drainage etc but there is not a hope in hell it won't be heavy come saturday

                It’s wet again this morning and has been raining since I got up 45mins ago (now 07.25am) it’s a drizzle with a light breeze, skies are grey and miserable.

                Weather forecast is a concern with a ‘warning’ of strong winds and heavy rain until late afternoon.

                ….i note the official going at 08.32 this morning was; Mildmay, Soft/Heavy; National, Soft Heavy in places.

                Since then we’ve had rain of biblical proportions and there’s no sign of it relenting. Roads are awash and it’s almost as dark as night. Seriously, if Day One was tomorrow I wouldn’t be surprised if they were calling an inspection.

                    …..rain has finally relented in the last hour and it’s a little brighter. Still very breezy but that was some deluge this morning, still wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more up there.

                      ….Aintree weather update; Wednesday;

                      After yesterday’s deluge, the good news is it’s not currently raining and I don’t think there was any overnight. The bad news is, it’s overcast and the forecast is for more rain this morning. Mrs Eggs certainly isn’t putting the washing out.

                      Official going will be interesting in the next hour or so.

                              So i presume come thurs clerk of course will not budge from soft, heavy in places regardless of the conditions. 34 declared thurs morning with no reserves, 10:00am i believe, then they start to race on it and find out what its really like, be prepared for a stackfull of withdrawals...

                                They won't due to political reasons imo
