Crowdfunder - Fat Jockey Forum upgrade

Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

  • Have bet;

    Cloudy Glen Hill Sixteen
    Capodanno

When I get into town, still planning to bet Lifetime Ambition, Enjoy d'Allen and will see if any 10s or above kicking round for Corach.

If Beauport or Nassalam win l, I'd have a double going onto Ain't that a Shame.

Only other bet I've done for today is Go to War in the last, Mark Howard is keen on him

    • Despite Tiger Roll, I'm still very much a 'anything below 11 stones man' and even more so in this going.

Corach Rambler, Mr Incredible, Vanillier, Ain't That a Shame, Le Milos, Velvet Elvis. A day for combination forecasts and tricasts.

An open National. A week ago it looked like Corach Rambler was heading towards short priced favouritism. Now he's becoming the each way steal.

      • Crunched some data from the last 10 years, putting more emphasis on the last 3 and backed

        Delta Work
        The Big Breakaway
        The Big Dog
        Fortescue
        Eva's Oskar
        Gabby's Cross
        Roi Mage
        Mr Incredible
        Corach Rambler

More than I thought, do this every year. Weighted for Delta Work and Corach Rambler to win

        • That was unfortunately a terrible advert for the sport, protestors causing the delay will have played a big part in that with horses being revved up, but that won't be discussed.

Those first few fences were brutal. Awful viewing.

            • That was horrible to watch at the start.

              • I'm done with the National tbh. That was disgusting. Call me all the names you want, I can't align telling myself that racing is good to horses when we allow such an unedifying spectacle such stature. Walked away from watching cos I genuinely felt revolted

                • It was no worse than countless other years. I'm not a huge fan of the race in all honesty but it doesn't stop me getting involved and watching every year so i'd be a total hypocrite to be against it. Horses die every week at unfashionable tracks well away from the eyes of the wider public, if you're into NH racing you make an awkward peace with that.

It was a tough watch, not many will argue with that. The way I level it with myself is by asking how many horses die in the wild (and often as livestock), without the appropriate access to food and healthcare etc. The number is multiples of the deaths due to falls etc.

Now instead of framing it as racing being responsible for x amount of deaths, I look at it as racing saves/prolongs y amount of horses lives. Magic of Light ran Tiger Roll very close for his second National, she died giving birth last year. Nature is far more crueler than the sport of horse racing could ever be.

                      • Unfortunately one of the worse nationals to watch in recent memory, when racing needed it to be one of the best.

I'm relatively sanguine about fatalities to an extent, as long as I believe im watching a serious sporting event and those mishaps happen in the course of that event. Personally seeing a horse stuck in the middle of a fence scrabbling around in visible distress doesn't meet that criteria.

I've been going off the National ever since I saw it in person in the One for Arthur year. Personally i dont need it in my life any more

                            • That was tough to watch today, the first circuit in particular.
did the starter let them go off a bit quick?
