Suppose we should give the champ his own thread too...
Cape Tribulation looks the type to spring a surprise in the Argento Chase at Cheltenham - Telegraph
It goes without saying that I cannot see Sprinter Sacre (1.50) being beaten in the Victor Chandler Chase, but that is not really telling you much as I see he is around 1-4. The ground is not ideal, but his brilliance and the lack of serious opposition should see him home.
However, it would not surprise me is there was a bit of a shock in the Argento Chase. Tidal Bay has clearly had a little problem, the ground will be against Grands Crus and Imperial Commander may be rusty. Therefore it may be worth taking a chance on Cape Tribulation. He won here last March and won a decent race easily in the heavy at Wetherby.
Last Shadow (12.10) ran pretty well at Doncaster when fourth and a few people thought he was eye-catching. He needs to improve tons, however, and is not good enough to beat either Irish Saint or Rolling Star.
John’s Spirit (12.40) has a very good chance at a decent price. He is an improving sort and the drop back in trip from three miles will help enormously.
I fell off Nadiya De La Vega (1.15) last time and before that she was third in the Paddy Power Gold Cup. She does not have much in hand as far as her rating is concerned, but she will love the conditions.
The Neptune Investment Hurdle (3.00) has a small but intriguing field. It will be regarded by many as match between the Coneygree and The New One. However, although At Fishers Cross takes a big step up in class he is pretty smart and they will have perform near their best to beat him.
Mr Watson (4.10) is a challenge for me as I am trying to get down to 10st 3lbs. Obviously I wouldn’t do that on a no hoper and he has a good chance in a competitive race, but my wasting is more borne out of the fact that after a week off you are driven to desperate things.
I do not expect Binocular to beat Hurricane Fly tomorrow. He was lame after Cheltenham last year, so came back in late this season and the weather would not have aided his preparation, but he needs a race.
