The Kauto Star Feltham Novices' Chase is always a top class event for novice chasers and Nicky has given himself two cracks at the favourite, Dynaste, with Molotof and my partner HADRIAN’S APPROACH (2.00).

I left it to Nicky as to which one he put me on and was more than happy to see my name alongside Hadrian’s as I’ve never ridden Molotof over fences.

My lad showed a lot of courage to get up and win over a trip on the short side at Ascot on his chasing debut and was unfortunate to come down next time at Newbury over three miles – a trip that will suit him.

He was travelling strongly at the time and most important of all, he’s schooled really well since.

I’m not going to say we’ll beat Dynaste but I’m sure that Hadrian’s Approach is more than capable of letting him know he’s around and, as I mentioned earlier, he went very well with Long Run in a spin last Saturday morning.

I rode Poungach to win at Haydock last month and now we step into Grade 1 company in the Feltham Novice Chase.

He will relish the surface, but I’m just hoping his jumping will be good enough in what is a hot race.

Dynaste is obviously the one to beat and likely to be all of the rage. I thought he was particularly good the first day over fences at Cheltenham, but was less impressed with him next time at Newbury.

But, I suppose, that’s what you do as a jockey when you’re trying to pick holes in an opponent. I’d imagine Tom Scudamore is more than happy to be riding Dynaste.

I start my day with Molotof (2.00) in the Kauto Star Feltham Novice Chase. He was second at Doncaster last time and won at Taunton before that. His form is reasonable, but Dynaste looks streets ahead of the rest and looks a natural over fences.
