RUNAWAY Drinmore Novice Chase winner Arvika Ligeonniere was on Tuesday installed 10-11 favourite for next Wednesday's Grade 1 Racing Post Novice Chase on the opening day of Leopardstown's Christmas festival.

Owners Rich and Susannah Ricci landed the race last year with Blackstairsmountain and could also be represented by 8-1 chance Marito, with their trainer Willie Mullins also entering Aupcharlie and Twinlight.

Stable jockey Ruby Walsh will be at Kempton to ride Kauto Stone in the William Hill King George, but stressed on Tuesday that he would not miss the ride for any other reason.

"If they run it at 10am I'd be able to get to Kempton in time for the King George," he joked, adding: "He was very, very good at Fairyhouse and will be very hard to beat. He's a bigger, more robust horse than Blackstairmountain."

Grade 1-winning hurdler Oscars Well took a novice chase at a at Navan by seven lengths earlier this month and trainer Jessica Harrington issued a positive update on the 3-1 second-favourite.

"I couldn't be happier with him," she said. "Arvika Ligeoniere is a good horse, but we have to take those horses on. What will be will be."

Entries also closed for Limerick and Down Royal's cards on the same day, with Limerick's featured Grade 2 Greenmount Novice Chase including four of the 12 Ra cing Post Novice Chase entries - Marito, Aupcharlie, Dedigout and Sword Of Destiny.

Dedigout and Sword Of Destiny are owned by Gigginstown House Stud, whose subsequent Cheltenham Festival winner Sir Des Champs won the race last year.
