In that press day at Willie's he was pretty negative on Jasmin I thought. Seemed to suggest he'd never been able to jump, even as a pointer. Was a bit odd when you think about it...

As is my decision to back him for the Turners looking.

Think I'm going to chance Joystick (50s!) and Sounds Victorious each way in that one.

Saint Lucie, Majborough and Galopin treble.

    Rest I'll be swerving.

Sorry for being a bit quiet for a while (not that I have much to add anyway). However, after a great chat with Kev, my enthusiasm has been rekindled, and I can't wait for the racing this weekend. I have unselfishly given my wife a choice of staying in bed until 11.45am (US time) or going to the beach (it's 26C here). "Don't worry about me, I will try to find something to do"

If anyone is going, have a great time! Wish I was there!

Day 1 looks like this for me:

        1.15 Final Demand
        1.50 Sainte Lucie
        2.25 Custom Taylor (E/W)
        2.55 Ile Atlantique
        4.05 Captain's Nephew
        4.35 Colcannon

Will have a look at the handicaps in the morning but my couple of plays are on, fingers crossed.

Spoke to a mate who is over and said it was dry and cold, not sure how much rain had fallen this week right enough. Should be no excuses re ground. Hoping Final Demand can put the Favs tag to bed in what is the graveyard opening race for favs. Then we take it from there

I've been against Jasmin so far this season but think he's worth a win only bet today (11.0 on exchange). He's arguably the most talented in the field but obviously needs to improve his jumping. I backed Final Demand ante post at 3/1, and he has been smashed up overnight which looks too short now.

No bet in the Arkle yet, but I'm edging towards Firefox.

Meetingofthewaters at 8/1 is my other ante post today.

Pretty difficult to see past most of the favourites today, aside from the bumper that just looks crap.
I suppose the handicap chase has 3 or 4 interesting types along with loads of regular faces, and have backed Shanbally Kid simply off his mark, and hopefully they've been planning a handicapping campaign in Spring with him.
But the grade 1's seem to have favourites that are underpriced but I can't really see a bet beyond them.
All favourites backed at slightly better odds than now but not by a lot.

No real opinions on today's racing. Favourites all look solid in the grade 1s. Bumper is very poor. Handicap chase I'd be leaving alone.

Handicap hurdle I like Custom Taylor going forward off his current handicap mark but not sure today's test will suit. He'll win a decent pot though this season if he keeps at around that mark.

Gaoth Chuil at 10/1 was of interest but getting backed down now - Leopardstown record of 2 wins, 2 places in 5 runs and record on soft is 13P22P24. Both pulled ups when travelling to Britain for Cheltenham and Aintree. Should be thereabouts.

At bigger prices, I think Binge Worthy and Desertmore House are overpriced.

The problem is that the favourite is massively well in on chase form, the 2nd fav is the same so is it better to bet in the w/o favourite markets? Something I'll decide closer to the off before having a bet

Final Demand is short but he was so impressive on debut. Maybe inexperienced but showed no greenness on debut. I'd be disappointed if any of the others beat him.

Hoping Majborough wins just so we have a good rival to Sir Gino.

A perfect day for me would be Sounds Victorious (staying on close behind either Supersundae or Final Demand would be ok), Galopin winning but F2F pushing him all the way, He can Dance, Majborough Sainte Lucie (Lady Vega acceptable) and Kalif Du Berlais for Mr Hales in the sky.

                          Not much to ask.
