  • Punchestown festival 2024

    Any fancies gents?

I'm going with Slade steel and Montys star singles and a double

Not wanting to get overly involved a long week of punting ahead with the guineas on the weekend

Hoping Henry can get me off to a flyer

Wasn't going to back slade steel as was expecting 5/4-11/8 but at 2/1-9/4 happy to play him.

Tullyhill is just far too big at 8/1 after what R4H said.

Agreed, think he'd like the ground softer though

      Very rounded action

Emptied again, don't think I'll be betting that again. Can't help but think the front 2 will reverse form over fences though

Decent effort from Mystical Power that, running at his third festival in 7 weeks or whatever it is. Probably should've won at all three in hindsight, with a better ride at Cheltenham.

Couldn't be having him as a chaser mind.

very disappointing wasn't it, although what the hell Danny, crouchy and Paul were doing going off that quick. Rachael and mark having a brain and sitting 10-12L off them tells you all you need to know.

MP ran a belter, some little horse considering he sweat up badly and has been to all the dances.

Backed Dinoblue and Monty's Star antepost. The former seems very short now. And the latter reasonably big still imo.

Just going to stick with the double. Not a festival to get too involved in for me. Might not have any day of race bets. Can't see much for the next two days at all.

Backed Betterdaysahead antepost but I was hoping Dancing City wasn't going to run, so that doesn't look so wise now. Probably want Answer To Kayf to win the opener tomorrow for a boost to that Martin Pipe form, that I remain thinking is a very good line.

Was counting my money on Slade steel there

But he found absolutely nothing off the bridle

More interestingly... a good second from probably the only English horse that'll bother making the trip.

UK trained horse won the second race today.
I think a few have travelled over.

Shows how much attention I'm paying. Certainly won't be having a handicap bet this week!

Good return for the UK though.

Day 2 longshot Lucky 15 E/W for pennies...

2.30 Mister Beeton 66-1 - not great form so far this season, but won at track last summer and cheekpieces may help him settle

3.05 Theflyingbee 20-1 - may not trouble the principles, but comfortable win last week, Danny Mullins retains the ride

3.40 Freemans Bay 25-1 - a good win last time out at Cork, Danny Mullins retains the ride

6.00 Hereditary Ruler 33-1 - not had great recent form, but only 6lb higher than winning this last year, and reunited with his winning jockey Shane O'Callaghan
