Anyone going to this Meeting , this weekend . ??.
I'm going for the third year Running , with a few Mates this time .
My Main Fancy in the Coral Gold Cup is Mahler Mission ., Took 14-1 A/P. , Will also have a bet on Twig - 25-1 . , if he runs as well.
Very unoriginal but Mahler Mission and Complete Unknown are the 2 for me. The former would be my main choice but the stable form is atrocious. 0 from 41 in the last 48 days . Can anyone see any recent improvement or excuses to give me confidence that he'll stop the rot in such a high profile, competitive race??
He's in horrible form isn't he. Has to stop somewhere I suppose. Saturday would be good for him. Couldn't back him with any confidence at all and especially at his current price.

According to RP, 34 runners 0 winners.
However, only one was 6/5 and fell when losing anyway.
In total only 6 of his 34 were single figure prices...so yeah there's an easy excuse right there. How many 10-1 + shots should he be winning with? Especially when the bigger yards are really starting to motor.
18 runners in irish jumps races this month 6 in first 4...ain't that bad is it? Its worth remembering how John McConnell's horses work stats-wise- he only has 7% win rate in 5 seasons with hurdlers- that jumps to 16% for fences + 15% for bumpers. To much less runners of course. So far this season 140 of his runners have been hurdlers.....
Yes a winners a winner and this is a massively competitive race, but he's a good target trainer and that was a superb comeback by MM. His form when sending them over still ain't bad.
7/1 might be on the skinny-ish side but for me his form is there for all to see. I haven't backed him, but i'd be saying he's the likeliest winner right now.

Like your thinking Lobos, but I ended up on a different one. Took one look at the market and just had to take on Jet Powered at the prices. The one I thought was overpriced was Anyharminasking 16/1.
Happy to put a line through his Greatwood run as he's not a soft ground horse. Prior to that, he was 2nd in the Welsh Champion Hurdle pulling clear with the winner.
1st Nemean Lion ran really well in the Greatwood considering he took nearly every hurdle with him
3rd Fiveonefive won a novice hurdle (should have done at the odds)
5th Gin Coco won at Ascot
6th Faivoir 2nd to Gin Coco
7th Moriko de vassy won a novice handicap chase
10th Strong Leader 2nd in a grade 2
It's 50/50 that he goes the correct side of the elbow up the run in with the way he hung at Ffos Las but I was really impressed with that run.
Others backed, so cross off your list
2.15 Hansard
2.50 Complete Unknown and Mahler Mission
3.25 Master Chewy NAP
Really hope racing goes ahead today. Stolen Silver @ 12/1 for me in the big one. Couldn't have been much more impressive stepping up in trip on debut posting an RPR of 160. It was a career best effort and he didn't come off the bridle. That was his first attempt over 2m7f and he looked to relish it so I think going even further will be right up his street. He's look that way for a while. When he finished 2nd at Cheltenham in January earlier this year he was headed and should have finished 4th or 5th but rallied and found looking like he wanted to go further. STD does superbly IMO at getting staying chasers into a good rhythm and SS settles and jumps economically, which will stand him in good stead over the extra distance. They've dodged a few engagements and kept him fresh for this and he typically improves for a run. I think he's capable of winning this and 12/1 is a great EW price if you can get 7 places.
Newbury
Good to Soft
Good (in places) RACING GOES AHEAD - WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR TEMPERATURES AS EXPECTED TO DIP BEFORE DAY BREAK. *Entire track is currently covered (frost free)*
Highly rated PTP recruit whose season didn't go well last year. Pauling thinks he's a good horse and gets into this on a mark of 117.
11.45 Fairyhouse Three Card Brag 3/1
One of my favourite novice hurdlers last year. Will need further but he had good form over 2 and a half miles last year (neck second to Inthepocket). It is a good race but Corbett's Cross could be tenderly handled and Nick Rockett and Months Star would ideally need further as well.
12.50 Fairyhouse Ballyburn Firefox Forecast
Like both horses but Ballyburn will be too much over this trip. Hoping to see a settled Ballyburn sprint clear with Firefox looking like he needs further. Both will be grade 1 class.
13.25 Fairyhouse Answer to Kayf 13/2
Answer to Kayf would be the main bet. Won well against What's Up Darling, who won well next time in a good race. 3rd finished 2nd to Ile Atlantique next time and 2nd again afterwards. 4th finished 2nd next time 2 lengths behind Champagne Admiral (2nd to An Tobar). 5th and 6th also ran well next time out.
Half brother to You Wear It Well (dam has had some other good types) and out of Kayf Tara. Step up will suit.
Waterford Whispers gets 10 pounds from the 2 market leaders, whose form hasn't exactly worked out well. Market check on him being a JP horse. He's a fairly big looking chaser and I have him down as being aimed at handicaps later on. Could win here without ruining his mark.
Grey Diamond is one of my favourite chasers but the drift today has put me off.
15.10 Fairyhouse Read to Return 10/3
Back to hurdling off a much lower mark than when running a good race over further at Cheltenham last time. AJ Martin horse so could easily be ran round the back but this looks a winnable mark.
At Newbury, you'd think Under Control and Jet Powereds will be ahead of their marks.
14.50 Newbury Zanza 25/1
Lots of front pace on show in the Coral Gold Cup. Could it be too hot? Zanza is a course specialist (mark probably too high but doesn't carry too much weight thanks to Ahoy Senor). Will be snuggled round the back 25/1 6 places looks good to me.
Will do singles on them and then various multiples each way for small stakes.
Master Chewy is too short in the last but it's not a great race. Bet365 3 places and 25/1 on The Russian Doyen. Out 621 days but dropped 4 pounds off this mark. Xcitations 17/2 and will be happy with the pace on show. Will wait and see how the course is riding but likely to have a small each way on one of them.
