Kemboy going for the Grande Course de Haies d'Auteuil (French Champion Hurdle) on Saturday. 8 runners and prize-money down to 7th. He was 5th in the betting at 12/1 last time I looked. Probably about right.

He seems to have settled well in Maisons-Laffitte and has schooled over French hurdles. Hopefully Rachael takes a leaf out of Ruby's book and just lets him get on with it.

A brief update on 'forum horse' Coningbeg (Connie).
Regular subscribers will remember that she was bought to be leased to a racing club with Sam Allwood but picked up a tendon injury and was replaced in the club by Von Melas (Mike). It has been decided that the club will run both horses this season and they came in a few weeks ago. Mike is further forward and will go in novice chases, hopefully starting in late September. Connie has done steady roadwork and I'm delighted to announce that she had a clean scan today so will progress to slow work in the sand for a few weeks. She won't run until there is ease in the ground but should be ready some time in October.
Some have stayed in the club and some departed but we're reasonably hopeful of running to capacity after an upcoming open day.

Can't help with the flat horse but I'm potentially at the same stage of planning with a jumps mare and I'm happy to share my current thought processes.
A lot depends on what you are breeding for. Are you breeding to sell (and at what age) or to race them yourself?
For my own purposes with a similarly rated mare, I'd be looking to see that she can produce correct and decent sized offspring without breaking the bank. A Black Sam Bellamy mare gets you Sadler's Wells on the sales page and if you want to avoid that in the stallion you could look at Falco, Pether's Moon, Norse Dancer or Kingston Hill, all at reasonable fees. If you're happy with Sadler's Wells on both sides, Telescope is an option. As your mare was bred by Shade Oak Stud, they would probably be happy to chat about her.

cheers Archie - probably look to sell the NH as its a foal share. Makes sense re not breaking the bank until you know the quality of output - there's a good bit of psychology in it isn't there! Pretty sure i heard/read that 1st foals usually slight out perform subsequent siblings?
