I'm sure when Paul is back in here he will recite his feelings when Bay of Freedom approached 2 out in the Kerry National a few years ago...

Hi Guys - many thanks for all of the kind words. To your point Ista, it really is a tremendous thrill. I am so pleased that I allowed myself to look forward to this race and then watch it with a level of hope. He travelled and jumped so well and never looked like losing. I kept looking for dangers from 3 out but there weren't any - it was surreal. The day at Listowel, Bay of Freedom looked to be travelling the best coming into the straight but it wasn't to be - today, there were no such concerns. I am feeling overwhelmed and it has been the most wonderful day. Peter is excited about him but we will give a few weeks off before pressing on in the summer. First, Bay of Freedom, now Suprise Package and still Freedom to Dream to look forward to - I am just so lucky!

                      • Just catching up on this thread - congratulations Bayoffreedom. A great read and insight. Genuinely pleased for you although I wish I had read this before the race as I would have had a few quid on! All the best wherever you go next.

                            • Well done.

To put into context with the FJ syndicate discussion, Name Of Fame was acquired for ?60k in December having been second in his only point and achieving a 84 RPR. Seems to have a sporting chance of recouping that over the piece while giving his owners a lot of fun.

In other news of my crew, Kemboy would have gone for the French Champion Hurdle today but the Irish authorities were applying strict quarantine requirements on the entire party and Willie decided that it made the financial equation unacceptable.

Sad to report that Luck Of Clover has been put down after contracting an infection following a minor operation to remove a bone chip from a knee.

                              • Hi BigChaang congrats, going to ask a possible silly question here.

Have seen enough times where a winning trainer is asked after a race what the horse's race plans are and the trainer gives a bland answer about how they'll talk to the owners and work it out.

As you own a share in Name of Fame, how much input do you have in where the horse goes next or is it just a case of listening to the trainer's advice?

Always wondered if the trainers were just batting those questions away or do they actively consult owners. I guess it can depend on the level of horse as well I suppose.
