Hopefully he'll repay your kindness tonight BOF. On ratings he probably should be favourite and if he runs like he did in the same race last year then that's likely to be good enough to bring home tge bacon.
I've had a little bit on him to win so fingers crossed all round. Enjoy the evening regardless.
Get in BOF. Cruel luck for the fav but you've been there with Package and he came out the other side due to your decision to save him. Definitely a result for Horse Racing. Three cheers mate !
I had minor celebrations last night, but I am out with Peter and Ber tomorrow, so just as well. Thanks for the congratulations, everyone - it was amazing. Now, onto something different: Freedom to Dream. Let's hope for the best tomorrow. We have decided to retire Freedom to Dream from racing; it is clear that his heart (or, more likely, his head) isn't in it any longer. I bought him six years ago, and he has lived up to his name, winning his first hurdle, finishing 2nd in a G2, 4th in a G1, and 4th in the Martin Pipe. We have several good homes lined up for him, and he will enjoy a healthy and long retirement.
Kim asked me last night if any sales were coming up. I stayed cool, not wanting to sound too excited. However, this is a door that, once opened, just cannot be closed. Watch this space!
Very excited as won an Owners Group ballot to attend the parade ring tomorrow at Ascot to see Zoran race in the 2m hcp at 2.25. He's up in grade but apparently working well at Emma Lavelle's yard and hope he competes and comes back safe and sound. Now just got to find a tie...
Owners Group comment below:
"ZORAN (9st7lb) made all the running to win over 2m at Kempton in June and was narrowly denied at Ffos Las last month. He should enjoy the stiff track, and we hope he can make the frame in a competitive race. We consider a value price to be 7/1."
Fantastic experience to be in the parade ring looking up at the gigantic stand in front of me chatting to Emma Lavelle and Tom Marquand. Can see why people get addicted to racing horses! Zoran as usual made the pace and tried to make it a stamina test, but the fast ground and undulations saw him fade from the 2f pole. Still a good run up in class against very good 3 year olds. Will see what ground conditions are like as to whether he'll revert to hurdles / chasing for the rest of the summer.
