    • You can scratch your head over the form - or you can back all the Irish horses at Cheltenham
      13 runners today and 3 winners at 7/4, 9/2 and 33/1!

        • Sharjah will be in a single bet and in 1-2 accas tomorrow

Mullins will look at where Sharjah can pick up some wins, limited if Honeysuckle turns up to the same G1's as last year. So sensing this is Sharjah's main target

          He faces....

          - A 5 year old Mare, who has been impressive but she was winning at the tail end of the season against some tired and underwhelming types
          - Abacadabras who's best performance has been over two and a half. Won last years renewal, but this is much stronger
          - Zanahiyr will likely set up the race. Top weight, 4 year old. Thats a tough ask
          - Darasso, meh

          • Yes I took 7/2 about sharjah earlier which was just too big a price

Whether he wins or not will be determined by how fit he is

This is likely just a prep run for the Matheson which will be his main target for the season

                  • Really like Smarty Wild 2.05 Ascot tomorrow. Took 6/1 (boosted with WH) last night and I'm waiting to see what the other bookies open up as to decide whether to go in again. He had a nice prep at Newbury two weeks ago where he was a bit keen and faded late on. I was impressed with the improvement in his jumping, which was a major issue last year. Going back right handed will suit him (he shifted slightly right at most fences at Newbury): RH form: 311114463313, LH form: 0455.

Off this mark, he was 4th in a listed hurdle at Sandown behind Mack The Man (was 122, now 131), Protektorat (128, 158) and Song For Someone (147, 158).

His two Ascot runs have been promising:
First time out last year, he was third (16 & 11 lengths) behind Sully D'Oc (up 20lbs since) and Editeur De Gite (up 27). He was third again in December behind Bennys King and Gardefort.

The last piece of form I like - and the reason he is in my tracker - is his final run of last season; another third. This run at Kempton saw him finish strongly behind Domaine De L'isle (won at Cheltenham nto) and Manofthemountain (also won at Cheltenham nto).

I'm hopeful that dropping 2lbs, a nice prep and the slight step up in trip can combine for a winning combination. At worst, he seems like a knocking ew bet in what looks a fairly weak race (8 runners currently). The two dangers I had marked down were Guy (trainer has an excellent record in this race and a nice season debut) and Flegmatik (trainer in great form, goes well fresh and this intermediate trip could be what he needs).

                    • Really fancy Buzz tomorrow and think he should be odds on, so will take the 11/10 on offer.

Not entirely sure Goshen runs (?) but even if he does on good ground and up in trip for the first time I don’t fancy him.

Guard Your Dreams has too much to find.

Love Song for Someone and he has a decent record fresh but slightly put off by his last run at Aintree and am sure he would prefer more cut in the ground.

2pts on Buzz and doubling down with a roll up on Honeysuckle.

I don't particularly fancy the horse or anything, but isn't this a dangerous assumption?

                        He's a 5yo. Having posted a career best RPR

Only finished 1.75l behind Buzz last year, alright he's worse off at the weights, but he was an eye-catcher i thought that day as well.

The February race at Newbury? Yeah I did take a look at that but as you say, he was carrying over a stone less and still got beat by Buzz over a trip too short to see him at his best.

My original post was too blas? i agree.

Being a 5 year old he’s clearly open to improvement and GYD looks to be on an upward curve, but i do still think he’s got too much to find to beat Buzz tomorrow off levels.
