Plenty Cheltenham form and as we know he’s just shy of Grade 1 class. Carried a big weight round Warwick and won comfortably enough as well.
My lingering doubts with a few of these top weight horses from renown betting stables is whether they are handicap hopping or they are genuinely out to win today

    • Not the most original selections but my fancies today are
      Samarrive and Nordic Combined
Jersey Bean and Go Another One
      Panic Attack & Jersey Wonder
      Jeremy the Jinn

my luck has been woeful for the past fortnight, I bet 5 horses in a 6 horse race earlier in the week just to try and claw some money back and the outsider won!!!

        I know the feeling
The only horse I pick out yesterday that won, I ended up not having a bet on it
I also backed Guard You Dream just after the off, light bulb moment, only to cash out the bet in play for small profit. All because my confidence has been shoot since last weekend. The only positive I can take out of this is.... I didnt loose much, kept stakes to minimal

Playing it easy today. Looking forward to the racing and sticking to two rules - Back those that have raced in the Fez and focus on the smaller races today....

        Double:
        - Sky Pirate: Top Weight, I really dont see this being a problem. The GB 2 mile sense last year was a joke, and I can't see anything here touch this fellow. The drift is a little concern but I can't find anything in that race that will trouble him

        - Does He Know: I like Oscar Rose but think the ground and being on the sharper track could hinder him. Rather go with the race fit horse here who's already jumped a fence

I know what you’re saying TKP but don’t see much point handicap hopping with him now. He won the Grand Annual off 11st 6 and I don’t think there’s much in the race to threaten him.

Hes 8 going on 9 so even if he dropped a few lbs back to what he won off there’s likely to be a better handcapped horse next year, he only just got home this year too.

I’d be confident he is out to win today, I certainly hope so too.

          • 13:45 - A race I normally like to get stuck into. Not this year, spent ages looking through the card and struggling to make a case for any of these

The one horse I did like was Pasvolsky (to place). I liked his novice runs. I dont mind his Sandown run, thats a good race and a few have ran out of place position in that to come and win here.
His run last time out... I'm hoping was just a blower for this. 33/1 earlier, but again, struggling to pick a winner never mind long odds chance. So I've taken 5/1 on the exchanges for 4 places

            • There didn't seem to be as many people at Cheltenham as i was expecting yesterday, pub seems a bit more full today !

              My initial thoughts for today

14.20 - Domaine de Lisle E/W, Cloth Cap's price is also becoming what should be an E/W bet to nothing
              14.55 - Tritonic
15.30 - Sky Pirate, big weight and my concern would be whether or not he's there to win today, will probably have a go anyway
              16.05 - Panic Attack E/W, Haul Away E/W
              16.40 - Does He Know
              17.15 - Aucunrisque

              Good lucl all

              • I’ve done some place multiples on a few outsiders…..

1.45 Straw Fan Jack (6 places)
2.20 Go Another One (5 places)
4.05 Kansas City Chief (5 places)
5.15 Sams The Man (4 places)

                  • Chelt 1.45 Samaarive/Timberman/Small Bad Bob

                    edit:
Timberman came with a rattle 3rd at 14/1 (left it too late?)
Maybe it was a better bet to go for Samba Sancer who had a much lower weight than Samaarive

                        Winning selection comes second
                        Paced horse comes 5th

                        • 2.20 Domain de Lisle/Jersey Bean - Storm Control has better class form but always looks one paced in the finish to me.
Amazingly Cloth Cap was 3rd to Frodon in this race last year, receiving 26lb and beaten 15.5l. Next race he won the Hennessy at Newbury!

                          Edit:
I guess the system is to back the Irish horses even though Definite Plan's form was nothing special. The 3 course winners Domain de Lisle, Jersey Bean and Storm Control all ran poorly. Cloth Cap ran really well under top weight. The Hollow Ginge is rather in and out - more out than in!

                          • 3.30 Sky Pirate is another course specialist who ticks the boxes. If we forgive Hatcher his last run he must have an e/w chance

                            edit:
Good run by Sky Pirate but probably needed the race. Hatcher ran like a horse new to Chelt - better next time?
V good front running performance by Before Midnight

Why isnt Sky Pirate any shorter? Thats the question I'm asking myself. Warning signs
