Protektorat nice jumping there. I think it was Jackie put me onto it last season, one to keep an eye on maybe again this season going chasing!

In to a best price of 28s then went off 200s which probably underpriced him he was that bad. Only had a small interest so no harm done and cashed out a bit for profit. Note to self though even masssive price cuts in this case 150 to 16 in one cut don’t mean a great deal the night before a race. In hindsight it was either a fake gamble orchestrated by the bookies (if these things are real?) or I assume more likely it was the owners having their obligatory interest, still not sure why PP would make such a drastic cut on that basis mind

              3.15 Cheltenham tomorrow - Honest Vic/Tobefair/Champagne Court

Hills and Sky have 6 places so have gone with 3 in this. I think these 3 are in it to win rather than place for the Final. Preference is for Honest Vic as I thought his run in the Coral Cup was a great one and he has only been raised 1lb and now has Richard Patrick claiming 3lbs and this longer trip and better ground I think will suit. Tobefair always runs well, loves Cheltenahm and with a 5lb claimer, he will also be close. I was disappointed with CC in the Close Brothers and I think he is back over hurdles as the trainer thinks he is much better than his current mark. The main doubt I have with him is that this is just a prep for the PP Gold Cup and I will back him for that if he is declared(although Saint Sonnet will be hard to beat who I also have at 20s).

As a big Galvin fan I'm hoping for a good run today and I'd like to think Elliott hasn't sent him over for the handicappers benefit.
Over at Sligo, and courtesy of Kotkijets outstanding efforts on the juvenile thread, Crassus attempts to win a maiden hurdle at the third time of asking having bumped into a few serious horses so far.
The ew double looks an OK play, 6/5 and 7/4 may not seem overly tempting but the place double almost covers the overall stake...

                  Cheltenham - early selections

                  13:50 - Ask For Glory
                  - worried he wants softer ground and not much pace in this race. He could just front run and be too good for the rest here who may struggling to get back to him, especially on the Old Course on quickish ground

                  14:25 - Galvin
                  - Ticks the boxes. Really want a decent horse how has bags of experience

                  Sticking them in a double

                  15:00 - Debestyman 20/1
                  - Back down preferred trip. Would have won Lanzarote. Ran decent race here last season, fading a bit up the hill (3 miles)
                  - Forgive 1st run, prep race
                  - Had shortlisted Young Lieuenant and Captain Tom Cat when both where bigger prices. With the way the market is going, feels money come in but they'll end up being outclassed.

                  13:35 - Ballywood 10/1, 9/1, 8/1
                  - Fancied this for the Old Roan, comes here instead. Ran well in the Fez, prep race under his belt
                  - Carrying 10-8, think this horse will fly up that hill today

An interesting stat......since 2016, 36 horses have made their chasing debut at Cheltenham and just 4 have won.

The Irish handicapper has 1lb between Galvin and Doctor Duffy 148/147. He is not the best of jumpers but @ 11/1 vs 7/4 DD will be having a few of my pennies

I would give the pipe horse story of friends an outside chance of winning the pertemps qualifier at chelt tomorrow.
