Anything is better than that pile of shit. I just look out the window these days and see if the cats curled up on her chair.

      • The Juvenile race at Doncaster on Saturday looks very interesting. Are Knight Salute and Too Friendly too big at 5/1 and 7/1 respectively?

On ratings I think Heaven Help Us at 14/1 in the International Hurdle at Cheltenham on Saturday could be a nice price.

            .
Had a look at this one yesterday when he was 7s but I didn't think it was worth risking antepost, as couldn't see anything definite on plans to run or not. Still think 5s is probably fair though. You'd think the yard would have a decent line through the favourite, so would be interested to know how confident they were. Beat the 2F last time fairly comfortably as well and, despite the penalty, I'd expect that to be confirmed. Looks a smart prospect imo and if you switched trainer names with those above I imagine the prices would also change...

Think I'll have a little play on him when I get over not taking the antepost bet.

Also agree with a few above that the PP Gold Cup form is where to focus for the RP Gold Cup, and moreover the winner. Think Midnight Shadow is being overlooked a bit. Would've been a very good winner that day but for the mistake at the last. Don't think 7lb is too harsh, particularly when those that finished close behind (and Coole Coady) that are reopposing also got penalties. Not sure why he isn't favourite to be honest.

They'll be my two bets for the weekend.

Agree, KS is too big. Was always coming here instead of Cheltenham as less of a penalty. IMO he's the best of the English so far. Really impressed with him last time. Jumped and travelled great and showed a good turn of foot. Milton has a line with another of his which he says gives him the beating of Porticello and he's already stuffed the 2nd fav.

He could be a danger to the PP GC horses but it'll be absolute guesswork as there is no substance to his form. He's completely unexposed, off a light weight , great jockey and trainer in form so I can see why he's been backed. However, he shouldn't be as short as he is based on what he's done here. He'll either win or be pulled up imo. One of those.

You could well be right Lobos, I’d say most have chances that are left. I’m relying on how unexposed he is, you say his forms not up to much yet the 5th horse in the PP chase last month beat him a few lengths on his UK debut and Farinet clearly improved from that to beat a field easily at Sandown.

Gambling is a lot of guesswork (along with form etc) hence why most will have him at a lot better prices than 7/1.

The one negative is not as much rain as was predicted, although it wasn’t too much but enough to take all the good good out at least. Some tonight or early morning to make sure it stays good to soft would help. Likely be good all over again shortly, course should really be watering surely at this stage of the season with it so dry? Good ground in winter is no good for NHC horses imo.

                  • Assume that one needs rain doesn't it? Wouldn't be surprised if it was NR, without checking weather. Why was he a NR in PP after being declared?

Breakstown looks like the kind of Skelton horse that breaks my heart. Not the sort I like to back, especially at the price he is now but also wouldn't be surprised to see him win. With my bet a clear 2nd. Adagio vibes.

Yep, regret not pulling the trigger when it was 20/1 a couple of days ago.

Prefer Dostal Phil between the two now at current prices

                      • I quite liked alnadam for this but he was obviously pulled out so now i find myself being drawn towards beakstown.

Not wrong about Met Office getting it all wrong haha, need to find a better weather service

Just stick to that Turftrax, pretty much spot on.

                            • Wouldn't trust any forecast to be spot on myself. The chance you take with antepost betting though. Hope everyone's selections get a run for their money at least.

Going to add a PP combination tricast of Midnight, Lalor and Dostal Phil. And a saver on Beakstown. Bottled it a bit....

It's almost like you have some success at this predicting horse races thing isn't it?

I on the other hand, talked myself out of coole Cody and into backing siruh du Lac on the day, to go with the forum farinet punt. To be fair I'm forgiving myself of cc given Evan Williams basically said the new course wouldn't suit as well as the old. Coconut splash for the new year's Day 2.5miler anyone?
