Just been looking at Duc Des Genievres after dismissing with within seconds of looking at the card the other day. I hope I dont get burnt now for looking back on the card and making a case for him now lol
- He ran dog cr*p when stepping up into open company, but ran a decent race with a firs time tie tongue at Kempton in soft/heavy
- Was running half decent before falling against the might duel between Min and CPS. Likely to have finished third but travelled well in a race where they were fairly hard
- Travelled well
- I'll be looking at backing him in a match bet against Rouge Vif (ground) and Riders (fell twice at Chelt, they'll go quick here despite, sharp track), I'm fairly bullish he can beat those pair tomorrow
- I can't this race being a head to head battle between Defi and PTKO, as much as I'd love to see that I just cant - think one of the will flop
- DDG reminds me of a Politologue - appeared to travel well in the JLT before looking like he didnt handle the hill. Nicholls threw on headgear and a tongue tie and the horse went on the beat Min next time out. Wind Op'ed Politologue who went close to beating Defi last year in this before this but like last years renewal, Duc Des Genievres has 6lb weight advantage over Defi (Politologue had to carry 3lb extra)
- I remember seeing this little grey horse running on strongly on his second hurdle, yeah that race where Samcro hacked up. This horse used to finish really strongly, but in recent races he appears to be stopping - it could be his wind
- I re-watched his Arkle victory, in similar conditions as tomorrow, he jump well and was one of the most impressive victories that week. Yeah, I know alot of people rubbished the form of that race - I did at the time given the amount of horses that hates that going that year
- Nichols has carefully placed horses to take advantage of their first races, especially when the rest of the field has yet to run - he smashed up at Chepstow. I'm ok with this being DDG first run, which may turn out to be his gold cup, and take advantage of that weight advantage tomorrow
I'm going to stick my money on him tomorrow to win (12/1) and have a bet W/O DDS and PTKO when the markets open
I'd love him to win me some credits, on the other hand, I dont mind him finishing at the back of the tele so I dont have to struggle spelling his bloody name!
Arhhhhhh I thought he had that!!!
Well done to PTKO, she's gone up in my books there

That has to be the most accurate summary of a race before it happened I have ever seen. Brilliant stuff.

Thanks!
It's one of those races which 'just made sense' the more I looked at it
Shame Rough Vif was pulled out as I was looking forward to putting on a decent W/O two fav bet, ended up going with a main bet with 2 Places
Just wished I could call a race like this more than twice a year lol
