opatcho Excellent response - plenty for me to think about!!

The worst outcome for Honeysuckle is they go a crawl and the race turns into a sprint - I'm not sure what presses forward here as Gordon and Willie corner the market, and both will want this to turn into a sprint for their respective runners IMO.

Petit Mouchoir would normally fit the mould of a front runner but sat off the pace in the Matheson and ran a blinder, so the same tactics will probably apply. Rachel might feel she has to set her own fractions, which could cost Honeysuckle to something quicker and slicker at the business end of the race.

Henry needs to get on the blower to Aiden O'Brien re race tactics - were this a Group 1 in 6 months AOB would have some front running no hope speedster in there for the main jolly NQAT.

.....I thought they might take it down given only 6 runners post-declaration.

Probably better news for French Aseel backers in my book. Longer he has to acclimatise to the yard, the better. Ruby made very interesting and valid points re horses moving yards on the preview last night.

This is proper stuff! I've been excited all week, just been counting down the days.
Have the whole weekend off to watch this... few beers tonight whilst taking a look at the race card, not too many though, want to be fresh for this one tomorrow

Cheers. This is why I post on this forum - to obtain differently views, particularly those that challenge your own. Learn from it, learn from the result and then try and bet the bookies next time

I think differently here. I have always had Honeysuckle as a speed horse, one that prefers weak pace which turns into a sprint. Pretty much all of her races have been like this.

Willie has Sharjah who I believe wants strong pace throughout to get the best out of him. And Mullins has Saint Roi who was most impressive in the country, a race where they go off at strong gallop.... did he come racing up the hill, or did the rest just fall backwards.

PM is too slow nowadays to set the a ridiculous pace up front. Aspire took over those duties last time out. Honey will have no bother keeping up with PM's early pace.

I'm struggling to spot the pace angle unless Mullins decides to send Saldier forward, he has 3 compared to Henry's 1... Mullins lot need to do something different to beat her, I dont think they have the quality alone to beat her but the certainly have the numbers to do it

Good to have opposing views on this. I'm more worried about being wrong than am about Honeysuckle winning LOL

Vanillier looks a big price tomorrow at 14/1. He has some nice form in the bag already beating Stattler and it seems like he needs a trip so maybe the flatter nature of Leopardstown and lack of the extra few furlongs will go against him but worth chancing for me
