  • Grech & Parkin

Just read that the racing partnership of Mike Grech and Stuart Parkins will finish at end of season.

I have always had nothing but admiration for them and always seemed very open and fair with punters regarding horses etc.

Good luck to them both in future.

I think Grech is staying involved... I imagine he'll buy some horses with the money they make from selling all their horses.

They didn’t get much of a return from the horses they bought so I can understand why their enthusiasm diminishing, they spent millions on their horses

I think Grech said Parkin has lost his love for the sport, but [his] remains very strong.

I had a look at their horses on the Racing Post website earlier and it’s strange non of them really broke through to Grade 1 competitors as they bought some potential top class horses in River Wilde, Mr Whipped, Clamintakenforgan & Gallaghers Cross but they have just not quite been able to combine the jumping standards along with the cruising speed to win the better races. I do hope Grech stays involved and is able to start seeing some fruition to his purchases. Maybe a change of trainer is needed. Nicky Henderson is a brilliant trainer but he has a massive stable of horses so maybe if some of their horses went to smaller stables they may get a bit more time & attention such as Rebecca Curtis, Evan Williams, Oliver Sherwood etc

All their runners at the festivals have been total flops... for the money they’ve spent you would hope for something to compete... unlucky with claimandtaken. They always seem to think their horses will win so no wonder they have lost their way!
