  • Ascot Gold Cup 2019

    From Aidan O'Brien's stable tour:

We are going to go down the Ascot Gold Cup route with him [CAPRI] this year and we’ll probably start him off in the Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan at the end of April. Things just didn’t work out for him last year, he didn’t get a clear run of it at all. Even though he won over a mile-and-a-quarter last year and went on to run very well in the Champion Stakes, he showed when winning the St Leger that he stays very well. You’d have to be hopeful that he can make up into a very good stayer.

He is 10/1 for the race currently - and obviously Stadivarius is the strong fav (5/2) who is clearly the one to beat.

4 times the price, I'm considering that a very safe each way bet. As reading through the rest of the stable tour, others like Kew Gardens that I thought 'may' be contenders for Moore/O'Brien don't sound like it's their aim.

Capri has been quoted at 20/1 to win the million (Stradivarius 11/2) with PP.

Not tempting but the article in the RP did highlight the fact that Capri did beat Stradivarius in the St Leger so I'm not surprised to see the 10/1 has gone and is now best price 8/1

He gets a very good mention in the FFP. I thought Kew Gardens would have been the one for this but it sounds like they are keeping at middle distances.
