It looks like Betfred is close to a deal with a consortium to sell a large stake in the Tote; the consortium promising to reduce deductions and increase levy back to racing. Personally, I think this is good news and, hopefully, it will deter racecourses from ploughing ahead with Britbet or any other alternative; it's important that racing optimises it's revenue and a cohesive,non-diluted Tote is, to my mind, the way to go.

Absolutely BoF.
What Fred has done to the Tote is crippling and it disuades irregular racegoers from attending.
This comes at a good time too with money invested in racing likely to drop through bookmakers contribution.
A good friend of mine was one of the original rival bidders, I saw their model and it was a greater capital contribution than Fred and far less money coming out of dividends, it was baffling how they were ever awarded it in the first place...
