Crowdfunder - Fat Jockey Forum upgrade

Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

  • Horses you have followed over the cliff

A bit of banter between Kev and Ista on the RSA thread about this.

    We all have em.

Simonsig has been my worst. So many King George bets

I have been known to have a few over the years. My biggest cliff horse, and by some distance, was Battle Group. He doubled up at the Aintree festival to gt back all my previous losses but then I believed he'd win the Grand National the following year - where he refused to race!

          Haha definitely deserves a thread!

Don Poli and Barters Hill are my current two.... thinking back to some others, it usually starts when I have had a win on them and they don't ever get the head in front again...

Zarkandar is definitely one of mine.
          Olofi and Grumeti too...

Oh my goodness I have just remembered Hunt Ball! Now I have definitely paid back all the profit from that incredible win sequence after he came back!

Don Poli for me too currently. I still think something wasn't quite right with the horse in the Spring, he just didn't look himself at any of the festivals. He'll win a national but I don't think he's out of the top staying chases just yet. You can write off this year.

Ted Veale - I was convinced he was a good thing for the 2015 Grand Annual (also bet Grumeti that day funnily enough too), backed him many times since and still no win. He puts in an eye catching run in a big handicap every now and then just to tease me!! Still think he's got a big handicap win in him.

African Gold - was hugely taken by him in the Albert Bartlett behind At Fishers Cross in 2013. Had some big bets for the RSA the next year and was banging him drum for a long time. Came 4th on his chasing debut, then fell next time up. Reverted back to hurdles and pulled up injured for the year. Came back last season and now his form since reads PU PU PU 13th and can't even get close in a class 3 race. How wrong I was...safe to say I've given up on him now

Great thread, this could well be active years from now.

My first cliff horse was Dessie but being quite good he never hurt me.
Bradbury Star, Remittance Man too won me money over the years.

More recently Celestial Helo, Garde Champetre, Quantitiveeasing, Dunguib, On The Fringe.

I'll dig into the memory bank over the weekend and see if i can recall any horror stories....

Watching Champagne Fever win today I thought I'd revive this thread.

Mullins finally giving the horse a stamina test will probably see him show how good he could have been had connections realised this 3 years ago, this could yet be the yards best chance of gold cup glory but barring injury we know Djakadam is likely to be Ricci's only entry.

I think CF could end up in Gold Cup Ista. Got weight today from the third who is horse I am taking out of the race today.

                      Hash Brown out Sunday

Needs ground bottomless mayo, ran a very good race today but against a horse having his first run for 2 years, strikes me more of a big handicap type in Ireland on almost unraceable ground than a viable festival winner

Connections will find a way of ruining him again....

Just seen Saphir Du Rheu is priced up as fav for yet another race. Unfortunately this is a begrudging cliff horse for me and because I've lost so many times I'm going to carry on because he will win when I don't!

Bloomin' Nicholls' fault for saying he was a future Gold Cup horse about 4 years ago
