  • Is Flemenstar really a 25/1 shot?

The John Durkan looks fairly open today, no winner this century first time out yet Djakadam is no bigger than 2/1, poor record for 10 year olds but Flemenstar is 25/1. You couldn't have imagined being able to back this horse at anything above 3 or 4/1 a couple of seasons ago in a race of this nature, just a shame there aren't 8 runners for the each way, but I'll be having a small ew interest, on the off chance that all 4 of his legs are operational.

Djakdam could win the Ryanair. That was impressive.

Yes, nicely done, I would expect him, at this stage, to be the main Ricci Gold cup prospect.
I thought Flemenstar was given an odd ride, Donoghue took a pull for the first 2 miles then went from tugging to pushing, he still ran a good race I thought, he was gaining on Valseur Lido on the run in, and I would think there's a race or two in him this season, good ground would see him in better light, could be under the radar too, so a decent price if, and when, he goes in

How lucky is Rich Ricci to have such an array of talent in his stable.Djakdam and Vautour and Faugheen could quite possibly win at any distance from 2m to 3m 2furlongs....and then theres Douvan perhaps potentially the best of the lot...cant think of a better group of horses ever....

Can't argue with any of that, and when you chuck in the support cast of Annie Power, Vroum Vroum Mag, Pont Alexander, Bachasson, and on and on, it seems incredible that one person could be in the right place so many times when these horses are up for grabs. Even the likes of J P McManus finds himself frequently having to buy from other owners after a horse has run, amazing luck
