Thistlecrack missed one down the back and lost position then got squeezed twice - once on the bend and then in home straight. Paul Townend got first run and that was the winning of the race. I suspect Thistlecrack might be the better horse long term but given the respective trainers who knows.

Richard Forristal pointed out on twitter last night Mullins has now won the Martin Pipe with three subsequent Grade 1 winners - Sir Des Champps, Don Poli and KVic. Unreal amount of ammo in that year.

Both horses were OK. Serious performance from the Don

Great ride from the old guy.

Is Bryan Cooper unlucky when it comes to picking his horses or will he be called for the cup of tea ?

He ran respectably in both grade 1's but is just not quick enough over 2 miles at this level; no surprise really as he's bred to be a 3 mile chaser. We will try and find a maiden hurdle fairly soon and take it from there- it's been a lot of fun and there's a lot more to come. He has been schooled and is jumping very efficiently now; this is a video from an earlier schooling session (he is 2nd in the group) https://vimeo.com/123773498
Good luck with him and keep us posted - feel free to start a thread in Mayos horses to follow section

Getting squeezed once was unlucky. Twice stupid. Got doubled teamed by the Mullins brigade.

Well, got that wrong, I think a lot of credit goes to Mark Walsh for pinching a couple of lengths on Jezki, good race though.

I think you got the Vautour call right.

Cheers OV, needs backing whilst the 6/1 is still available, will be 1/4 come the race if he goes there

The Douvan Arkle 7/2/Vautour QM 6/1 will look like a phenomenal double at the fez if that's where they line up, 30/1, you'll be lucky to get evs on that double by Christmas

                        I heard Ted too OV

Ruby also compared Vautour to Kauto on ATR earlier in the day. Good horses who could go up or down in trip.

Maybe the bet is to lay UDS. For all that he has won everything when standing up the last two runs have been underwhelming imo.

Djakadam getting beaten by DC might also throw a bit of doubt in their minds about having the Gold Cup covered ?

You may have a point mayo but I think Djakadam has had a long hard season, and he's such a young horse, so I doubt whether they would change their long term thinking based on this week. Djakadam will have a different programme next year, he probably won't even start till December, maybe in the Lexus, whereas this year he was on the go in October I think, now he will be prepared for the spring festivals with an emphasis on Cheltenham
