  • Big racing story to break on late late show ?

Twitter awash with speculation about a big story to break on tomorrow nights late late.

Anyone know what it is ?

Ted stepping down to let Ruby take over training being mentioned but would have thought that's a few years away unless shoe gate has brought it forward.

Paul Townend or Davy as AP replacement also mentioned ?

With the interview answers given by Davy and Willie it sounds like a scandal story rather than a change of guard type of thing, and originating from Cheltenham it does look as though it's National hunt related, intriguing.

I think it may be a bit underwhelming.

Russell getting the AP jig an outsider but possibly some development in this ?

IT WAS announced last week that Victoria Pendleton had teamed up with Betfair to pursue her dream of riding in the 2016 Cheltenham Festival.

Even if it isn't this is a big story in it's own right given Ryan Moore is flying in from Meydan and AP is supposedly galloping a few of his better 3 year-olds after racing.

Apparently Davy Russell's response to the interviewer was "You think you know someone", couldn't see that being his response to something he was already aware of, and Willies was "It's just a rumour, I don't believe rumours", so that suggests to me it's something negative, but that's just me starting a rumour, so don't believe it.

However, the Racing Post can reveal that there is no huge racing story going to break on The Late Late Show on RTE 1 tonight.

"John's big announcement on The Last Word yesterday evening was all part of teaser activity we've been running over the last few days," said Roisin Reilly, marketing director for the popular radio station.

"Listeners to the station would have heard a lot of horse related stuff recently and it will all become obvious tonight. The full story will appear on Today FM later today," she added.

Going to happen soon but probably not yet ...

''I'm just a little heavy at the minute but I'll be back riding on the Flat very soon," he said on Friday.

I wasn't sure where to post this but wanted to let people know that Bay of Freedom has been sold; all of the details are in the latest blog http://www.cheltenhamdream.com/blog-diary/. I do want to thank everyone for your support over the last few months and there will be plenty more to come from Bay of Freedom in his new pink and green colours.

Jockeys Championship: Changes made to Jump Racing title dates

In a shock announcement the British Horseracing Authority have announced that his year's Jump Jockeys' Championship will now not conclude until December 31.

The 2015 championship will finish at new fixture to be run at Cheltenham on New Years Eve.

"The new format provides a more compelling storyline for new and existing racing fans, and will keep AP McCoy racing for an extra 8 months" a Great British Racing statement read.

British racing's promotional and marketing body hopes the changes will increase participation in the title race.

                        BBC racing correspondent Cornelius Lysaght

These changes are clearly designed to extend the "Catch AP McCoy Roadshow". While the champion jockey may have a sufficient lead over his nearest pursuer Tom Scudamore to sit out the 8 months until the 2015 title is awarded, it may be prudent for him to continue riding until later in the year to secure his twentieth title.

AP McCoy was unavailable for comment. His wife Chanelle was said to be "fuming".

This year's Champion Jockey will receive £25,000, while the jockey who rides the most winners in Britain during the calendar year will win £15,000.

Meanwhile Jockey Tom Scudamore welcomed the move, saying the changes will "help raise the profile of the sport".

I don't think I can take another 8 months of the "Mr Wonderful" grovel fest, I hope he still packs in when he said or I think I'll move to Belize till he's gone

Its an April 1 story (my own).

Might delete it before some at British Racing thinks its a good idea.
