  • City of Troy will be my selection for the 2000 guineas on Saturday. Impressive two year old season culminated with a win in the Dewhurst RPR 124 and has been a very short priced favourite for this ever since. Trainer not coy about his ability and potential and whilst it's hard to completely ignore Aidan's comments it's not impossible he gets beaten in the guineas before going onto better things throughout the season much like Auguste Rodin.
Having said that there's really nothing in behind that I'm all that excited about, I think Rosallion definitely has his chance but nothing from the Godolphin 2 year old crop struck me as 'Guineas winner' and elsewhere in the market looks fairly meh for win purposes Imo.

No sort of price but probably the most likely winner so let's hope we're 2 from 2 after Saturday afternoon.

For the Kentucky Oaks I'm selecting Just F Y I

From a physical point of view she looks a picture, she's really grown into a strong filly and wouldn't look out of place against the colts in the Derby

Since coming second in the Ashland ( her only race this season) I think she's the horse who will improve the most and is on an upward trajectory

All her works have been exemplary, athletically gliding around Churchill and eating up the ground with every stride, she's the one that catches the eye

Let's hope Friday gets us off to good start

Nice one parimutuel definitely adds a bit more spice to this weekend! Looking forward to the racing both sides of the pond and cheering Just FYI home Friday night!

      • I'm going to be boring, but from the way I've analysed the race it just makes too much sense

        Sierra Leone - KY Derby

We're going to have lots of speed at the front with Dornoch, Track Phantom, Fierceness, Epic Ride and Potentially stronghold being sent also. Last 2 years we've had a fast pace and 2022 especially being a total suicide pace which sets it up for a deep closer.

Although there's been no winner from stall 2 in over 40 years, provided he gets some luck in running and doesn't get stuck, a ground saving ride on sierra leone could be peach perfect coming into the stretch and we've seen his relentless gallop when he gets going in his last 2 races and he looked brilliant in his racetrack gallop yesterday.

        • Decs for the 1000 are tomorrow but I'll decide tonight and hope nothing goes wrong from today through tomorrow.

I've seen clips of Fierceness not looking great walking after a work out, the vet could pull him maybe.

Yeah I saw the same, that would be devastating for Repole and Pletcher after Forte last year.. let's hope they all line up and may the best horse win.

Good stuff Zach, bound to be a frenetic pace so if he can gather himself up and make his charge he'd have to have a massive chance. Can't wait to see how it pans out!

              • Sorry for the late post, it's been tough as I have found it very trappy and forecast of rain which would suit Ylang Ylang etc.

                I've come down on Ramatuelle.

Has a run under her belt and will come on from that and form with Vandeek who I like for the commonwealth cup.

So that is Just F Y I, Sierra Leone, City Of Troy and Ramatuelle.

                3 Justify's

                Let's be lucky

Best odds is with WH 446.77/1

Man I hate the oaks, always get it wrong. I didn't think she was as good as several of the others but proved me wrong with a great run from the front.
