  • Amr Zedan, the owner of Arkansas Derby winner Muth, has filed a lawsuit against Churchill Downs Inc. seeking a temporary injunction that would allow his horse to run in this year’s Kentucky Derby despite a ban on the horse’s trainer, Bob Baffert, according to a press release issued by Zedan’s public-relations firm and a copy of the lawsuit.

Interested to see how Impel goes.. looks a very good race on paper, tempted to have a bit of 16's for Oaks beforehand. Sierra Leone 9/4 in the Bluegrass looks very fair too, can see him going off a fair bit shorter. Drawn 10 will be fine. Might have an SP fav and Derby double as a top up.

Would hope for a nice performance, like timberlake I'm always wary about horses which have only performed to their best on sloppy tracks but the turn of foot should be fine

        • Looks like we'll be getting a European runner in the KY Derby, Capulet is running in the trial at Chelmsford for Aidan and Ryan is going to ride there, given its a win and you're in race and I wouldn't expect Aidan to send one to Chelmsford, after Henry Adams blew out at Meydan, I think this is their 2nd card up their sleeve

          • Zachx02 Monty's Pass how are you both seeing the Bluegrass and Ashland playing out? Just F Y I back after an injury. Impel only won a claimer and fav.

Impel looked very good in both her runs albeit only a maiden and an optional allowance claimer so it's a big step up in grade but on figures she's not far off, recording a 91 beyer in her last rub whilst the beyer for the BC Juvenile Fillies was piss poor at 79. Now looking at it like this, I'm very tempted to take the 16s on Impel and maybe an SP fav double on the day if it looks like she will go off fav

Bluegrass is the rematch between dornoch and Sierra leone, I wasn't really impressed by dornoch LTO and cant help but think speak easy would have won that race and now he's out of the derby trail, SL seems to have came on since that and ran well in the Risen Star. I wouldn't rule out Just A Touch either, nice equibase speed figure and cox won this with essential quality a few years ago. Both very exciting races, wonder if they will leave SL to go late and be a deep closer like in the Risen star

I see Dornoch setting the pace if breaking well and getting headed by Sierra Leone after the home turn, fought back well against Sierra last time they met but I'd hope Sierra can reverse that form being a bit more streetwise now. I think Top Conor can maybe grab 2nd too if able to keep tabs on those two but it's a bit of a punt as he'll need to step up properly to get close to them.

Impel is an interesting one, she's clearly well fancied and is on the up but probably too short on what she's achieved so far. I liked Candied in the BC so hoping she can run well. I'm not really a fan of Just FYI regarding the oaks but no doubt she'll prove me wrong at the weekend! Just think she'll be susceptible on her first 3 year old start but is working well by all accounts. Jodie's Pride another with claims.. definitely a tricky race to have much confidence in picking the winner but I'd go Candied if pushed although she too is making her 3 year old debut, Pletcher has won 2 of the last 3 runnings of the Ashland from memory so I think she'll be primed and needs the points so has to figure at the business end to make Kentucky.

Yep and after Henry Adams disappointed looks like he's the back up and imo a better horse

                        • "We will be looking at a Derby trial for him. He could potentially be one for Chester, but we’ll sort that out closer to the time. He is the type that will hopefully drive on and improve once he goes up in trip. He’ll start at a mile-and-a-quarter, will go up to a mile-and-a-half and might even get a bit further than that in the fullness of time if we ask him to."

Obrein on capulet in his stable tour

Sounds like he thinks he's a boat

                          Potential leger type

Sensible to run him at Chelmsford away from the horrendous heavy ground about atm

                          Question is will something outspeed

                          • Given last weeks derby trail treble was a success, thought I'd do another

                            Capulet - Chelmsford
                            Deterministic - Wood Memorial
                            Imagination - SA Derby

Impel & Just FYI are my only Oaks bets so hoping at least one of them will be winning, best case scenario both neck and neck at the line.

Wesley Ward unleashing his 2yo's tonight in race 2. BOSTONTONIAN looks very sharp in his works.

Edit : That's if he runs, just noticed he has another entry for the 10th so might get scratched. That'll leave the filly
SHOOT IT TRUE as his only starter in the race, she looks like she's been working well too

If they both start might be worth a BOSTONTONIAN win and Reverse Forecast with the two OR if SHOOT IT TRUE starts alone a single on her

Edit : Okay, so left with Shoot It True
